MK:  Make up your own mind on whether you want to pull for Hope or not.  However, you should keep in mind the MIAA, and MIAA schools gain much more by any success the Hope teams may have, rather than their failure.  Winning a banner would go a long ways towards quieting down all the talk about how great the CCIW, WIAC, UAA etc. etc. etc. view themselves. :D

Wow, #1.  Setting up for an even harder fall.  Nice.
While your "Nice" is your typical evil spew, I agree with the potential fall from #1 being difficult. I had hoped all season for a ranking of about 10 for the men. #1 seems a bit lofty, but I hardly think it will go to any one's head.

But on the other hand I guess I'd rather fall from #1 to somewhere in the top 59 than be wallowing somewhere around #300... ;)

And yet we all end up Banner-less
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Good article Pat on what being #1 does or does not do for a team.  To automatically assume going in #1 gives a team an added incentive or a bigger target for opponents is pure conjecture.  Still have to win the next 5 or 6 games regardless where you start.  Now, if I were a Hope fan, the more important thing is where you play.  Getting those early rounds at home sure helps a team.  I know it did for Calvin in 00, but the 92 team played in MN, and then won it all in OH.  If you are very good, and get a little luck here and there good things can happen. :)

Umm, O.K. I've made up my mind.

Good!  Your record is perfect so far this year.  ;)

It'll be just like when a LONG winning streak comes to an end.  ;)

No room to talk about banners?!!?  What else do we have to talk about, fer crying out loud?   Having been there for both Nat'l Championship runs/games, I will point proudly to them until Hope wins just as many.

Ugh! More pointing.......... :D

No wonder the worlds so mad at us.  We've been taunting.

Well you are going to have to make a choice.  Be # 1 or be loved  ???

I thought that Knollcrest hosted a few Final Fours in the early 90s and it happened to include the 1992 title? I'm too lazy to dig that up, but am I remembering wrong?

From past things written on this forum, "be loved" doesn't seem to be an option for us.

Wow--Congratulations to the Hope Men and Women for the dual number 1 rankings.  Quite impressive.

Now live up to it and do the MIAA proud!

All fun aside, congrats to Hope men and women, and as others have said, represent the MIAA well. It's a whole new ballgame now, and hopefully they can adapt to it as they'll need to. This banner talk is premature, but not out of reach - go get it.

So as a Calvin fan, am I supposed to root for Hope?

Would Yankee fans root for the Red Sox for the betterment of the American Leauge?  Will Hillary root for Obama for the betterment of the Democratic party?

Absolutely NOT!!! and Probably.

Yours and Stinger's hatred may run deep, but most Hope/Calvin/MIAA fans are a bit more rational. Besides... we don't really need you, but if we had your support... Thanks!

Thanks.

I think this year is really up for grabs and the extreme lack of consensus in the No. 1 votes this week reflects that.

There is a big difference.  The Yankee fan will root even harder against the Red Sox and will not hide his passions, while Hillary will verbally root for Obama but in her heart...
