Of course I am the guy who thinks it's hard to beat the same team 3 times in a year    ;D

Wasn't that hard........just the first one.  ;)

The mature side of me says that yes I should root for Hope in the tournament.  They are really more similar to Calvin than they are different, so I can root for my brethren to the West.  But I must say that the competetive, immature side of me breathes a sigh of relief each time I write the obituary posting for Hope's failure to win it all   ???  A bit schizophrenic, eh?

There's no easy button.

Or more likely...

I hear you (ah, make that read you) and I'm not saying that the experienced team automatically wins - but at the same time, they are not in a "foreign land" and so have to be a little more at ease.  In my experience, a team that is more relaxed (looser) going into a game typically has an advantage.  The teams experience level is one contributor to that, just like home court, etc.  Of course I am the guy who thinks it's hard to beat the same team 3 times in a year    ;D

I understand what you're saying, but in this case I disagree. I've been impressed with Capital. They're early loss to Centre last year left a bitter taste in their mouth, and from what I've seen/heard this year, they're looking to do better.

Nate Stahl is a great player (I believe he just won OAC POY). He can post you up, and drill the 3. I've enjoyed watching him play. The last game they played should be no indicator because he had missed the previous game with a mild concussion. Steve Kyser is one of those guys where upon seeing him you say, "He's on the basketball team?" BUT, he runs the offense very well, has a nice 15 footer and is "round" - the kind of "round" that gives skinny, tall guys fits.  After that, they've got some other nice guards (one a freshman who is pretty tough) and a decent center who gets the job done.  They're a well coached, heady team.

Now, do I think they'll beat Bethany? Yes. Do I think they'll beat Hope? No. BUT would I be surprised if they did? No. They're pretty darn solid and hungry. I guess we'll all know in a few hours if this was all for nothing.

As for cheering for Hope....I did last year when their women played at Capital. I just wore my Calvin sweatshirt while doing it!

Thanks for the ticket help, and offers of ticket help, for Saturday.  I'm all set.

Hopester

If possible, can someone break down Hope and Capital position by position. I don't really know anything about them accept that they seem pretty good. I find myself pretty nervous about this team. I would appreciate any comments on that team so I can know what to look for when I watch them on Saturday.

All of this is under the assumption that Capital will beat Bethany, which based on the stats posted earlier seems likely.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Now that was a great line!  In fact, if the inflation rate keeps climbing, I may have to take my button out again.

I'm up to 3 reasons why I don't like the bye:

1. Lost revenue
2. No relatively easy tune-up game (assuming it's not a Princeton/Georgetwon affair).
3. No basketball until Saturday.

Well, I suppose there will be basketball tonight. I suspect most of us will be following the proceedings. For those who haven't yet entered: there is a bracket contest off the d3hoops splash page, and there is a "fantasy basketball" contest on the multiregional board on the pick-em league page.

I'm still excited about Hope's chances, given what happened in the last 30 minutes of the MIAA Championship game. It was good to see Bowser get in the first half, and I'm assuming we'll have Carter back at close to full strength for the Tourney. Any word on him?

Albion doesn't score 80 points per game and give up 70.

Are you saying that the OAC doesn't play defense?  That would be nice!
