It may be one thing for you to talk among yourself on the track and cross country board, where there's not much else going on, but it is a TOS violation and if you continue it out here then I will shut it all down.

Are you using "girls" as an insult?

Girls as in, acting like 12 year old girls.  Eventually they grow up, then I think they are cool.  Most of them will surpass the maturity level of some of these adults and their little karma button by about 14.

I'll also pass on my congratulations to the Wash U Bears, they put on a great show this weekend and were without a doubt the best team in Salem.

Sorry my post about what Hope faced against WashU wasn't to your likeing but then my experience is nothing I say or do is to your likeing.  Pretty sure it has 100% to do with the fact I went to a different school, and cheer for a different team.  Its a sad way to go through life, but I pitty you.  All I did was post facts, and my opinions about them, didn't realize I had to meet your approval to be able to post something on this board, I'll try to remember that next time but I'm sure I'll forget.

I'm sorry I feel like I can post something more profound and indepth than this little gem of yours.......

Boy, do we need spring so that some of you people can push the chair away from the computer and go outside and burn off some of that pent-up energy.  Good grief!!   ::)

One of the guys on Hope's team I feel the best for is Jesse Reimink.  Last year in Wisconsin at the quarterfinals he struggled mightily going a collective 2-13, 1-9 from 3 in the win over Carroll and the loss to Washington.  For the 4 games in the tournament he went just 10-28 and averaging a little over 7 points.  For the year he was a 50% shooter.

This years tournament started out with a near masterfull performace vs Capital where he went 11-13, 4-4 from trey, grabbed 6 rbs and had 4 assists with 1 turnover while scoring a career high 28 points.  While he never had quite the same offensive scoring punch the rest of tournament, the good shooting continued.........for the tournament run Jesse ended up 34-59 a blazing 57.6%, and an even hotter 13-22 from 3 at 59%.  Through the 5 games he picked up 30 rebounds, averaged 17.4 pts, had 19 assists and 8 steals.

Against Washington he was asked to play alot of tough minutes, there were a couple times when he really needed to come out for a rest, but because of the foul situation it just wasn't possible.  By the end of the game he was probably as worn out as any Hope player, but he was as much a warrior out there as anyone.

It was just good to see Jesse cap a really terriffic individual season with such a positive performance in the tournament.

Jesse's going to get a lot of defensive attention next year, so things may not be quite so easy for him.  As team captain I feel good about his leadership, and should be a great help to what should be a really young Hope squad.  By the end of next year he's going to amass a pretty nice set of career stats and should be able to join Hope's 1000 point club, and will probably finish among the top 10 in a few career categories.  Over the last two years it been easy to build a great appreciation for how hard he plays, and how important his overall skills have been for Hope's team.

Its really hard to believe we're so close to seeing the surprise JV callup from 2006 that impressed us all so much graduating.

Davidson made the elite tonight, I always thought Davidson was a bigger school but they have an enrollment of around 1700.  The school picked up the tab and offered bus rides and a ticket for any student who wanted one to Detroit to watch the team play in the sweet 16.

For reference, Albion has an enrollment of 1900.

I believe Davidson is the smallest D1 school.  They seem an obvious fit for D3, but apparently decided to use their endowment for different purposes than many.  I have no knowledge whether or not that is a necessary thing for enrollment purposes.

But, oh! is Curry good! ;D  In the second half, he personally outscored Wisconsin, 22-20. :o

Davidson has had DI sports for years (basically mid-major).  They used to have scholarship DI football, playing in the Southern Conference for many years before they decided to go independent, then dropped to DIII for a few years in the late 1980's before they went to non-scholarship DIAA.  They used to be in the Colonial League I believe for a short time before joining the Pioneer League.  Their Richardson Stadium is a neat stadium, has hosted the NCAA Div I Soccer championships in the past and was recently renovated about 6-7 years ago I believe with the installation of the new synthetic turf.

As far as basketball, they have always played at the major level as far as I recall.  The campus is beautiful.  As you mention, they would seem to be a good fit for DIII overall, but apparently have chose to be like Tulane, Rice, Dayton, ND, Villinova, etc., etc. i.e. smaller schools as far as enrollement playing at the DI level.  The tuition, however, is "sky-high" ranking right up there with the high end of DIII and the likes of the Ivies, Northwestern, Stanford, etc.

Anyway, like you guys mention, it is great to have seen them advance in this year's tournament.

This is an example of Hall of Fame maturity.

I get a lot of feed back about the things I post on this site, all of it positive, even from the few Calvin posters and lurkers I've met.  In fact I can't think of one time a single person told me in public they didn't like what I had to say or something along that line.  I come here to talk basketball, Hope, the MIAA, D3 and any other random subject that might cross my mind that others might find as interesting as I do.

I never asked to be in the Hall of Fame, its kind of cool that Pat and the others felt to include me.  No offense to Pat but it doesn't mean alot, only that I've been around awhile.   Its not some secret society, there's no handshake, no jacket or wristwatch, its just a bunch of us who have a few things in common.  We love ours schools, we love D3 basketball, we love talking D3 basketball and over time have contributed alot of information other readers may or may not enjoy.

You obviously don't like my aproach, thats fine, I haven't always responded to you or others the way I should.  But I won't sit back and let people trash me or my school esp. when they have an agenda, fortunately 97% of the people who post here show class and restraint most of the time.  Its the other 3% that I have a hard time dealing with, sometimes I can ignore it, sometimes I won't.

There are alot of reasons people come here, most come to talk basketball, some to just read (alot actually), some to offer brief opinions on subjects of the moment.  I really don't know what your reasoning is, you've sometimes provided good reading, most of the time its one liners with agenda's, pot shots and ragging on individuals or your rival.  Doesn't make for fun reading.  The kind of stuff that invites comebacks.

You may challenge my integrity, maturity, class ......whatever makes you feel better about yourself.  I know the truth of our first meeting and I'm comfortable with my maturity level.  I made a mistake earlier this year with you, and I apologize for that, it was an honest mistake born out of surprise more than anything else.  It obviously made you hide from the board for a few weeks and for that I'm sorry you felt you had to do that.  But again it was an honest mistake.

I'm not here to make enemies, just talk basketball.  I offer my hand extended as some kind of peace offering.  I can't promise that I'll back down from being challenged or questioned or having my school or it coaches or players trashed.  But I'll do my best to keep to myself and engage in conversations instead of "trash talking".  I've grown tired of the direction this board goes down sometimes, and I know others feel the same way.

So thats my response, I guess the balls in your court now.  Again enjoy your off season, as always I look forward to next season with anticipation.

that was good sac you deserve hall of fame

Well said.  sac you have never been anything but a great resource of basketball knowledge about all teams in the MIAA. Letting someone get under your skin, when that is their entire intent, is nothing to apologize for.

I would hope any "distain" of other MIAA schools is a gamesmanship towards clothes.  In my years around the MIAA I have found the students the most refreshing and impressive part of any of the institutions .... unrelated to their uniforms or loyalties.

If someone thinks they really know a coach, fan or student based on what they see in the competitive arena -- they're fooling themselves.

I hope any negative feelings folks have toward Hope, Albion or Calvin are shallow and silliness.  I like to beat Albion, but the respect I have for the Albion students I've spent time with far outweighs the "rivalry" between our schools.  Anything other than that is an insult to the quality of people attending and competing for these schools.
