Ok--going way out on a limb, but I predict only a 3-team race for the title:  Calvin, Hope and Albion.

Tri-State?  Loses so little to graduation after a 6-8 campaign (which I believe was 6-4 before a late season swoon?).

BTW, when does Tri-State officially become Trine?

What about K-Zoo? They may have been 3-11, but as was pointed out before, they don't lose a lot.

Tri-State becomes Trine on June 1, 2009. No idea why they waited that long.

I'd go with Hope, Calvin, and Albion. If I had to pick a fourth I'd say Tri-State but really I think the odds of anyone other than the big three winning are 1 in a million next year (all add the caveat that I am only referring to the regular season champion at the moment).

Maybe they had to get through all their printed material, and bookstore junk... Otherwise they would have to send it along with the Patriots' shirts to Central America

Just so no one thinks I am crazy the first thing that came up when I googled Trine was this
http://www.insideindianabusiness.com/newsitem.asp?ID=25606

That's from September though and I would think Tri-State/Trine would have the information correct on its own website so I think sac's date is probably right.

Mr. Ypsi

realist certainly got his money's worth, just by usng the number '4'! :D

Everyone assumes it is Hope, Calvin, Albion, and '?'

I guess I'll use the term 'Trine' from now on - should please some obviously very rich folks, and who's it gonna p*** off? ;D

So, realist, which four did you actually mean?  Alma, K'zoo, Adrian, and '?' ;)

That would be our assumption at this point I guess.  Not sure if anyone has confirmed that.  I guess it could also be pronounce to rhyme with skinny?

Very good Mr. Y. ;)    I really wanted to see what sort of assumptions everyone would use to decide which 4 it would be.  We have sort of been the big 2 little 6 so long with the occassional big 3 little 5 we have set patterns of thinking.  Actually with a player here or there the MIAA couild be much more competitive than normal this coming year.
Hope:  Always a favorite near the top loses alot to graduation.  They have some capable, but relatively untested players coming back.  They will be tough to beat at the De Vos, but suspect they will be road killed a time or two this coming year.
Calvin:  Probably considered by many the inside favorite for the coming year, but unless they can correct some problems I just don't see it happening.  They lose a good shooter, and his points are going to be hard to replace.  If some of the forwards really step up their game Calvin will be good, but just not sure that is the only problem.
Albion: The last few years has done an excellent job, and there is no reason to think Turner is going to let up or go away anytime soon.  Will be very tough at home, but also subject to being surprised on the road.
Trine:  Best guess at this point for #4.  Didn't lose much point production, but Moore was solid.  Most impressive thing is Trine has learned to play defense, and their numbers are right in there with Calvin.  If they can get offensive performance to go along with a stingy defense they will be difficult at home, and may well surprise teams on the road.
Adrian:  Olivet & Kalamazoo:    Are all going to be tough at home, and each of them may surprise one of the bigs.  Even Alma may surprise a team or two that might be thinking a win there is a given. :)
It is not all all unrealistic to anticipate the 09 MIAA winner having a 11-3 record or several teams tied at 10-4 sharing the title.  All it would take is the big 3 defending home court, and losing at the other 's house along with Trine only losing once at home to really churn things up.   :)
