If he missed 15 games this season, it would explain why FHC "underacheived".

Keep in mind the comment about him missing 15 games was in a preseason article last November - in other words he missed 15 games his Junior year.

I'm just happy to hear that anyone basketball players are going to Hope. It seems everyone else we've heard about is headed else where.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

FHC's coach, in my opinion, is the best coach in WM (Albion grad I believe),

Ken George is a 1990 Albion grad.  Also is Albion's all-time 3point % leader and a 1,000 point scorer

Greatlakeshoops is reporting that 6'4 wing Steve Wilmers from Lapeer is coming to Hope.  from what I understand, is is very similar to current frosh Doug Sharples.  BIG LEAGUE HOPS.  Hope is also hoping to land one more from Lapeer, albeit the other school.  2 from midland schools last year, 2 from lapeer this year hopefully....

A little more on Steve Wilmers from the Lapeer area newspaper.

East's Wilmers, who led the Eagles to a 16-4 (14-2) regular season and the Flint Metro League championship in his senior season, was voted as his team's MVP after his senior season.

"Steve is one of the best all-around athletes in the area," Lapeer East coach Mark Newell said. "He has great basketball skills. He is the best athlete I have ever coached. He has worked very hard to make himself better.

"Steve will definitely play at the next level."

Wilmers averaged a double-double during his final campaign, scoring 11 points a game while also pulling down an average of 11 rebounds a night. Wilmers averaged four assists and five blocks a game as well. For his three-year varsity career, Wilmers averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks a game.

Steve was also a Detroit Free Press Class A Honorable Mention.

It appears Calvin has snared another out-of-state player -- a forward from the west.  Not a lot of info on the kid at this point.
Still waiting on a final decision from the sharpshooting guard from the lakeshore.

Hutton has narrowed it to Albion, Alma, Hope & Concordia. Top 2 are probably Albion & Alma

Steve Bell reports that Whitehall guard, Jared Edsall is going to Olivet.  Have not seen him play in a couple of years, but I know that several WHAC and MIAA schools were interested.  Great athlete

Luke Walker, 6-2 G Cedar Springs --Albion

Luke was 5th Team All-State in Class B, Grand Rapids Press All-Area Second Team.

An excerpt from mlive.com

Luke Walker 6-2 Sr Cedar Springs
A top-shelf defender ............ Walker is more of a power guy at 6-2. He's most dangerous offensively spotting up, ...... He's a tough, athletic big-game player -- with great grades -- who would be an asset to the majority of college programs.

Heard Smith signed a guard from the Menominee team that lost to LCC in the B semi's , Anybody else? Hope he can get this program turned around. A lot of talent at the local jc (delta), that could help.

heard Scott Jungling isn't coming back. Going to Hope next fall for tennis and maybe basketball. IMHO, I don't see Scott making the Hope varsity team.

Walker for Albion is a really nice pickup.  Strong, great spot up shooter, played in lots of big games in HS.  I know Cornerstone really liked him.

Hutton from lapeer hasn't been confirmed...yet.  Just got off the phone with a coach from another program that was recruiting chris and it was news to him.

Alma has gotton to work!!!! So says all the boards.  Like someone has said, until they are actually enrolled....

Sounds like another snikkers is playing well in AAU for the 17U GR storm.  It would be nice to follow the family name to Hope in a year. And there is one more girl coming up who is really good as well.  Mr. and Mrs. Snikkers, keep em' coming!

GLhoops is reporting that hutton from lapeer and ryan ross from st. joesph lutheran have both commited to Albion.  That's 3 pretty good guards for the brits if it comes together.  2  Hope important recruits not interested in the orange and blue.

Chris Hutton 6-1 PG Lapeer

Chris was a Detroit Free Press Class A Honorable Mention

Here's an article from last summer that includes future Dutchmen Steve Wilmers
http://www.countypress.com/stories/070107/spo_20070701009.shtml

Here's some more from another article on this past season
Hutton had perhaps the finest season by any individual player in the Flint Metro League. The 6-1 guard led his team to a 16-4 (10-6 FML) record and a third-place finish in the Metro. Hutton led the FML in scoring, all this despite continually drawing the most defensive attention from every team he faced off against.

"Chris was able to put up some impressive numbers this season," Lapeer West coach Andrew Roberts said. "He did this despite facing box-on-one defenses, triangle-and-two defenses and any thing else other coaches could come up with.

"Chris went up against that just about every game."

Hutton averaged just over 18 points per game and made 45 three-point field goals in just 20 regular season games. The senior also pulled down 3-5 rebounds a game, dished out 69 assists (3.45 avg.), had 56 steals and drew 10 defensive charges on the season.

Hutton closes out his career as a Panther with 800 career points. This is the second straight season that Hutton was chosen as a unanimous, Metro pick for first team.

Another good player headed to Albion, if true.
