Dang - just realized that with Pat cleaning up a few of the boards, I'm back under the 2000 post mark.

Actually, it wasn't Pat.  The Y2K bug got you late! ;D

[When he finally reaches the CCIW pickems and in-game updates boards, I'll give up a few hundred more than the 200+ I've already lost!]

Pat Coleman

Actually, I have since found a way to delete posts from the board without affecting the post totals.  :-\

Some interesting numbers from the NCAA stats about attendance.

- Hope once again lead the nation, with an average attendance of 3016, up 93 from the previous year (2923).

- Only 2 DII teams had higher average attendance than Hope (Northern St. and Morehouse).

- Amoung the 328 DI teams (not counting the provisionals), Hope would have finished 168th.  That equates to 51% of the DI teams having higher attendance than Hope, and 49% lower.

Top 10 attendance in Michigan

Michgan State --- 14,759
U of Michigan   --- 10,034
Western Mich.  ---  3,538

At least those EMU numbers in bball are probably accurate. :(  They got caught inflating their fball numbers by a matter of 150-350%!

Given what GVSU has done with their football attendance I really can't believe they can only get this many people to that gym.  Especially with the last two teams they've had.  Thats puzzling.

As far as Michigan goes,.............thank god they had all those Buckeye fans to buy up those empty seats for their one sellout...........or maybe throw some thanks to Rich Rodriguez who was introduced that day.

should be very interesting with the mix of talent in this...if anybody's in lansing for this weekend and has some extra time, i'm sure some people here would be curious for some tidbits.

stinger: is corey the younger brother of henry?

I don't know for sure, but it's probably a safe assumption granted that they are both  GPN grads.  Corey was a first-year WR on the Hornet FB team last fall.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I know nothing is "official" until school starts, but Peter Bunn has informed the fellas in Holland that he plans on playing there, not Big Rapids where he was reportedly offered a full ride.  Bunn played with the boys Monday night and it was sounds like it was abundantly clear what he will bring to the team.  This will definitely change the dynamic of future roster(s).  It will affect the incoming frosh this year (krombeen), as well as recruiting in the near future because the 1 and 2 guard spots are locked up for the next 3 years, with depth never being an issue but playing time being one.  Unless Hope changes to 3 guards, which they did a little bit ( and truthfully thought they could have done more of), with DVS, wolfe, tanis or carter, dvs, and wolfe.

In an article in the Sentinel, Coach VanWieren mentions that a re-tooling of the schedule is in the works in regards to the opening date.  Attempting to schedule another D1 in state team, which is "in the works".  I really need to learn how to insert stuff into my reply

Rumor has it, Hope will be opening up the season against Oakland University.  Peter Bunns old school.  Pete would like to go to Hope, but hasn't been accepted yet.  I am sure Glenn will find a way for him to get into Hope.

Here's a link to the afore mentioned article

I know I should not go down this path again but since I didn't want to register on the Holland Sentinel site to make these comments here goes...

Could the author of the previously referenced article refrain from using "pumped" and "fired" up, unless he is directly quoting someone with quotation marks?  I know this isn't the Wall Street Journal or the Washington Post but some decorum in a serious newspaper seems in order.
