I spoke with someone with AQ connections and he asked if I had heard about a change in venue for the Hope/Aquinas matchup in December.  He said that it was in the works for the game to be played at the Palace as part of a triple header with that game going first, followed by U-M/ somebody, finishing with the Pistons. Anyone hear of this as well?  Suppose i could see if the pistons are home that night first...

That would be interesting..........I call Bill Davidson's seats.

Heard an interesting stat this week. Adrian has about 500 incoming First-Year students entering this fall.  Of that number, all but about 65 were brought in by athletics.

Seems like a lot, even with a huge football recruiting class. Have to figure Adrian got some hockey freshmen after all the (misguided) publicity Mitch Albom gave them. But that leaves them more than 200 short of a possible 435.

Adrian also has women's hockey, and men's and women's lacrosse to go with the other MIAA sponsored sports (except swimming).......the men's hockey team had 20 freshman a year ago, 1 in 3 baseball team members were Fr.
From the looks of it, almost every varsity team Adrian sponsers had double digit numbers of Freshman last year.

This is really the 3rd year (I think) of the Pres' big push for athletics and you expect to start seeing results by now.  Which it appears they are.

Interesting note on a former MIAA'er.

Kazoo Central makes it official
Posted by Stephen Bell August 22, 2008 06:37AM
As called last week on the Bank Hoops message board, Mike Thomas is the new coach at Kalamazoo Central. He was a grad assistant at Northwood. The Saginaw High grad is Albion College's second all-time scorer.

In the Maroon Giants, Thomas inherits what is annually one of the state's most talented programs. However, it is also a hyper-politicized, parentally manipulated, small town coach-killing job, so hopefully he fares better, and lasts longer, than the recent run of coaches.

K Central is an awful job.   I don't envy Mike Thomas one bit.   I've heard horror stories from Smokin' Joe.

now that the students are arriving, can we come up with a list of incoming frosh and transfers who may play a part in the upcoming hoops season?  I can assist with Hope's and I've heard about some from other schools potentially showing up but....
Hope transfers- Andy Vennema 6'8 5-man, Jon Snikkers (I know he was on campus last year) 6'5 4-man, Jorin Scott 6'6 4/5 man, Scott Jungling 6'0 1/2 guard.

Hope Frosh- dave Kromben 6'1 pg, Logan Neil 6'3 2/3 guard, Ryan Ross 2/3 guard

Other kids i've heard but not official- Chad parkes, kid from Montana, Nate King, pete bunn played with the team a bit this summer and worked the hope camps but my "sources" didn't know where he was living so is he a sure thing?

Definitely add Bunn to the mix as he has been spotted on Campus!

Thank God none of us have ever resorted to hiding in the bushes with binoculars looking for tall people on campus and trying to identify them.

.....wait, has anyone seen FDF lately?

Looks like they're conserving space.
