Kent Raymond is listed as the preseason Player of the Year. Certainly it'll be fun to see him one last time in the MIAA/CCIW Classic. But boy does it feel to me like he has been in school forever...

(Same with Veldhouse)

Imagine how long it seems to those of us whose teams have to face him (at least) twice a year!!  (Nonetheless, last year: IWU 3, Raymond, et. al. 0. :D)

Your right Mr. Y, Hope fans have no idea what it feels like to face Wheaton twice in one season.  None at all.

Could you imagine what it would be like to face Veldhouse, say, four times a year or even five?!?   ;D :D

Hope is 9-3 lifetime against Veldhouse, I believe.

Veldhouse's stats show he deserves to be pre-season all-american, but now it's time we see him win a couple against Hope and see if he can lead Calvin into the sweet 16 or further.

The record would be better if you dismiss the game that Caleb hit the air between him and Immink so hard that it gusted and knocked Greg over for a charge.

I'd still love to see some video footage of that someday. This is a topic that could probably take up a few pages on this board if it wanted to.  Veldhouse had Draayer wide-open on the 3 point line also. I would have liked to see how far Calvin could have gone in the tourney if they would have won that game.  Wittenberg would have been the favorite in the next game of course...

I'm not sure what the video would or wouldn't show, I'm pretty sure that no matter what it showed most of you would see this........

Well, he is a Wheaton graduate now. He's coming back for his final season as a student at the Wheaton Graduate School. Remember, he decided not to play basketball during his sophomore year as an undergrad.

NPU had a grad student on last season's team, Ed Whitaker. Has there ever been a MIAA player who's donned a uniform as a grad student? Just curious.

It's not a phenomenon that you see a lot in D3.

WOW ??? ??? Words can't even describe that one.

Caleb Veldhouse is the Phil Ford of DIII. I think he's been at Calvin 6 years now. A preseason all-american? Hmmm....

As to that call: from my angle it looked like contact, but in any case Veldhouse ran that break wrong. He had a 2 on 1 and took the ball way too deep, not forcing Immink to make a choice. (Mind you, it should never have come down to that play anyway, but that's another story.)

Gregory -

I believe it would be impossible for any MIAA player to have graduated and then played in the MIAA as a graduate student.  I do not believe any MIAA schools have any post graduate programs.

Calvin does have a very small graduate program in Education, I don't think any of them are ballers.  Also, would a student with eligibility remaining be able to play if enrolled at Calvin Seminary after graduation?
