I believe it would be impossible for any MIAA player to have graduated and then played in the MIAA as a graduate student.  I do not believe any MIAA schools have any post graduate programs.

Calvin does have a very small graduate program in Education, I don't think any of them are ballers.  Also, would a student with eligibility remaining be able to play if enrolled at Calvin Seminary after graduation?
Ziggy:  I recall reading a "Chimes" (Calvin's student paper at the time) story years ago titled something like:  Seminarians can now go run and jump.   :D :D  At that time seminarians could participate in sports, but don't know if that is true today.  I have heard of a student or two (having already graduated) that has taken an extra semester at Calvin to use the last year of eligibility in a sport, but think it was for cross country and some other fall sport.  One student I recall had been injured, and the other studied abroad for a sport season.  One of those students used the semester to meet their student teaching requirement, and the other I don't recall specifics.

Wasn't there a Calvin bballer recently who did finish off his eligibility as a seminarian?  (I may be mixing it up with a Wheaton/North Park/other? player.)

Roster watch leads us to Kalamazoo, obviously not a finished roster, nothing shocking that I recognized.  Only 6 upperclassman for Mr. Passage this year........baby Hornets?

and Trine put out a season outlook

http://www.trine.edu/trineathletics/mens_basketball/outlook.cfm

Wes Weir returns from his knee injury, which is good to see.

....no offense to the good people at Trine but some of those words read as pure fiction.   Namely continueing to employ a wide open brand of exciting basketball........which avg'd 63 points a game last year.    Then the other which is highly debatable and highly dubious "looking to take advantage of their superior speed and athleticism.".....what?

I'm all for hype, but this is just trine to hard.  (ba dum bum)

Yes, as far as the NCAA is concerned. Whether or not Calvin would allow it is another matter.

I'm quite confident that no Calvin hoopster has ever competed while a seminary student and I think it's unlikely we'll ever see that happen.

OK; I tend to think you are right on both counts.  Mr. Y may be thinking about Aaron Winkle who enrolled at Calvin Seminary, but that was well after he completed his 4 years.

Calvin's roster has been posted.  In addition to Griffin and Engelsma gone are Koetsier, Schuster and Van Harn.  This leaves 6 seniors, 3 juniors and 5 listed sophs.
One of the juniors, and two of the sophs are "dare I say the word" transfers.   ;D ;D
Hopefully one of the transfer will be able to play some time at center or Mantel is going to see alot of minutes.
Interesting to see Hope at #20.  That MIAA/CCIW matchup with Wheaton will provide a pretty good indication if it is too high.

Thanks for backing me up on that Sac. :)  I intended to post that in, but had a senior moment.

Realist is talking about Hope #20 in the D3hoops.com preseason poll  http://d3hoops.com/top25/

Considering I'll need a program just to figure out who all these guys are, I find it highly unlikely Hope is a top 20 team right now.  I'm finding it difficult to even rationalize them being picked as the MIAA favorite (which they haven't).

8 teams from the Midwest and West Regions in the top 8,  :-\

I was also surprised to see Hope in the Top 25. I think a lot of that is respect for the program as a whole and an expectation that Hope can keep reloading. While I think Hope can reload I fear the team is too young and inexperienced. I think by the MIAA season the team has the potential to be very solid but I expect some growing pains in the first few months.

CHN:  Part of that ranking may be the price one pays for finishing the previous season in Salem.  I tend to agree that by MIAA time GVW will have it pretty well sorted out, and will put a very respectable Hope team on the floor.  With all the changes at Hope, Calvin player wise, and Albion with a new coach it is going to be hard to make any meaningful projections until all the teams have some games under their belts.

I took a lot of ribbing on CCIW Chat for my optimism about IWU (which will get the overwhelming majority of its performance from sophomores and freshmen).  I responded in a way that should resonate even more on Lets Talk MIAA: "I'm also a UM fan.  Two words: Fab Five." ;D

Yeah, but most MIAA schools can't pay enough for players like that...  ;)
