Bowser lost 11 pounds because of the virus.  Must've hit him hard 'cause the kid doesn't have much to lose.  No idea who else on the team was affected/infected.
One of the major effects of the norovirus is a person tends to become dehydrated.  It is going to take anyone who was hit by the bug some time to get back to normal muscle tone, hydration, and more importantly stamina.  That is why I mentioned the virus's impact will probably felt most by any volleyball, cross crountry runner or other athlete that faces tournament competition this weekend.  I was on a cruise a number of years ago hit with this virus.  The people who had it took about a week to get back to normal.  One thing going for guys like Bowser is their youth and being in good physical shape before they got hit.  Old, fat posters wouldn't recover so quickly.

I just spoke to a parent of a player and there are more pressing issues than the scrimmage, lack of practice, start of season, etc...

WOTS is that 50-60 more kids have fallen ill in the past 48 hours, and there is talk of ceasing the semester/3-4 weeks and making it up somehow.  Don't know how credible but it came from a student/athlete in the midst of it all.  What havoc that would put on the winter sport seasons.

There are lots of rumors going around and the vast majority of them are not true. The rumor that the semester might be canceled is unequivocally false.

Fortunately, for some of us it's all water weight. ;)

There was bound to be a trickle effect when the students got  back in contact with each other, as I read the virus stays viable for 2 to 3 days after the last physical signs leave the body. Many of the students that came in contact with the virus were able to fight it off, or just have a nauseated feeling for a day(that is what happened to the player that I know on the team). This may continue for the near future :(, all the while the affected numbers diminishing.

New (at least I think it's new) video of the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex Tour at Calvin:

Is the facility going to be finished in time for the season?

The January 7 Trine double-header will be the first varsity game in the new building.

I'm looking forward to seeing some hoops tonight at the DeVos - all scrimages, but hey it's still basketball..  The Hope women's varsity is playing Muskegon CC at 4pm, the men's JV is doing an intra-squad (I think) at 6, and the men's varsity is playing the Berghorst All-stars at 7.

This will prove to be a very telling season for the Dutchmen. There are 6 soph's and 2 freshman on Varsity and 8 freshman and only 4 sophomores on JV, this is a relatively underclassmen heavy program(20 out of 27). Soooo, if the Varsity can finish at or near the top of the conference(like many of us believe they will) and if the youngsters contribute in a big way, things could bode very well for the following 2 years.

More accurately, this may be part of Hope's participation prizes for its opponents to get them to show up in Holland.

According to today's Sentinal, Mount Union did not allow its women's basketball team to play in Holland Saturday night because of the norovirus scare.

Apparently he bulked up a little before the virus hit.

As long as the condiments remain safe - or have they been sterilized as well.  Might we be stuck with condiment packets for sanitary reasons?   >:(

Why is it when I read this, I get all giddy inside..........like suddenly Will Bowser is going to start crossing over defenders, breaking ankles, while leaping 7 footers and double pumping reverse 360 dunks with regularity.  :D
