Halftime

Hope 25 Aquinas 24

Brutal battle I guess.  Aquinas started out 9-0, Hope battled back to lead by 5.  Stats generally ugly everywhere.  Probably the story was John Lierman having to sit about 15 minutes with 2 fouls for Aquinas and AQ is still very much in the game.

Reimink 12, Bunn 4, Sharples 4

Jake Shockey with 8 to lead the Saints.

Lazic already has 14 rebounds with more than 10 minutes left.  Twice as many as he had last night.

wiz

Computer guy must have a case of the gitters.  Says Lazic made a jumper and Sharples got the assist.

Sac?  Is it just me or is this kid Bunn starting to sound alot like a Hope guard whose name started with H??

Wasn't aboe to see the games tonight but the stats make it look like this game was on on the boards.  Lazic was just too much to handle and clearly is tournament MVP.

FINAL

Aquinas 58 Hope 46

Nothing pretty about the stats in this one, hope it was a tough defensive struggle.  Game got away from Hope with about 7 min left when Lazic scored 5 straight in the midst of a long Hope dry spell.  Hope played from behind from there.
Jordan Torres burried two huge 3's down the stretch to seal the win for Aquinas.

Reimink 16, Bunn 13

Lazic was the man for AQ with a big night  14 points, 16 rebounds, Lierman had 10

Moral of the story, don't ever underestimate Aquinas.  I'm sure they dedicated the weekend to their coach who's spent the last several days on the injured reserve.  Get well soon coach.  Congrats to the Saints, winning this tournament two years in a row is very impressive against this bunch.

Since I haven't seen the Dutchmen or Bunn this year, I can't answer that.

How true!  If memory serves me correct, no one gave Aquinas a vote in the poll prior to Friday's games.  Any one of these teams could have one the tournament.  Very evenly matched group.  But, could have isn't good enough.  Bragging rights for the second year in a row go to the Saints.

AQ, starting 0-5 is an indication how much one or two players can mean to a team at any level.  I sure figured Hope would pull it of given how hard it is to beat the Dutch on their home floor.  Now I don't feel quite as bad about how Calvin did last night, but tonights performance did little to reassure one that Calvin is ready for prime time in the MIAA/CCIW challenge.
