For once I am going to agree with RFB on this one.  I do not see any was Oxy just rolls right over them.  Oxy has played a pretty weak slate so far, and Redlands has played an ok one.  Redlands seems to be stronger, IMO.  I can assure you though, I will probably never agree with someone from Redlands again ;D

Dawgs by 12 over Oxy, this post approved by Sarah Palin.

Hey OB, I was in your office building for a depo last week, I should have stopped by and said...Hi!

My impressions . . . for all that they are worth . . .

The metaphorical playing field between the Tigers and Dawgs is pretty level given the apparent uptick in Oxy's health . . . and the downtick impacting UoR.  A very strong running game up against a pretty good defensive unit against the run.  The real test for the Tigers will be if they can garner outside contain on the Bulldogs and not let Smith develop a passing attack.

Oxy has to stay healthy, the O-Line has to open holes and protect the QB.  Tigers will have to execute and hydrate, avoid bad breaks and have the ball bounce their way.  Finally . . . in sum . . . in order to win, Oxy will have to score more points than Redlands.

I'll take my Tigers in a very hard fought, white knuckle, cardiac inducing game, 21-20

Ouch. Sorry to hear that my dodgers had to leave Brooklyn and be the Pioneers in MLB to head west to open a new market. With this scarfice, I am sure Walter O. and the family just wanted the best for their fans and for the future. And for that I thank them.

Back to SCIAC football. Oxy takes this game away from the Pups by two scores.

Two scores? Really? I guess they're going to outscore an offense that averages 450 yards of offense by two touchdowns? And they're going to do it on a defense that has given up 6 net rushing yards over three games? Oxy isn't playing CC or CMS this week.

Ummm.... I concure.  Oxy will indeed win by Two scores. I'm glad that the Pups has an average of 450 and has also only given up a net rushing yardage of 6, but that was when players like Selway and your two starters where not hurt.
In saying that, Oxy exposes these new up in coming players, forces them to get major butterflies from the get go and eventually take advantage of these mistakes. Make no mistake, as of yesterday, the Men in Orange and Black are constantly being reminded of how this game, how this week, how every filming study, how every lifting/ conditioning assignment will be as important as any big game in these young mens lives. Past conference championships produced by Oxy will mean nothing, last years victory against the Pups will mean nothing until the Tigers walk away with a victory. May the best team prepared team win this week. Go Tigers

P.s.
FTP, sorry your Halo's are losing. I'll save you a seat from this years victory parade in down town later on in the month.  ;D

tooth   all kidding aside, your assesment is probalby right on, especially with the UR injuries.  I think it will be close but it will be a UR win by more than 1 point.

and don't forget that they stole land to build chavez latrine.

Before Chavez Ravine was razed in the 1950s to construct Dodger Stadium, it consisted of about 1,100 homes if you counted all of the tents, ramshackle huts and dilapidated shacks among actual stable buildings. Half of the structures in Chavez Ravine didn't meet city housing standards, and a third of them lacked indoor plumbing. Chickens and goats wandered in the streets. In other words, Chavez Ravine was pretty much like Whittier is today.

in Redlands. Advantage Redlands.

I suspect they will remember how they: let one get away/got beat last year

A few random observations on the topics du jour:

Walter O'Malley was a lot of things, ranging from a brilliant businessman to a guy who used Buzzie Bavasi to chisel player salaries down as low as he could, using whatever means necessary.  The bottom line is that if New York City Officials would have let him build his new stadium in Brooklyn the Bums would have stayed.  This is why it's important to get out and vote  ;)

I am shocked.  I am sure the development of Chavez Ravine was the first time in history a marginalized population was forced out to make room for a new construction project.  :o

Since 1988:
Dodgers: 1735-1598, 1 World Series Championship, 1 NL Pennant, 4 Division Championships and 2 Wild Cards
Angels: 1707-1630, 1 World Series Championship, 1 AL Pennant, 5 Division Championships

So the Angels are so much better because they've won a few more divisional playoff games?

Before Selway's injury I would have favored the Dogs.  I still think Redlands with a healthy Selway would have given the Johnnies a run for their money.  Now I'd give a slight edge to Oxy in a close one.

                              Angels/Clippers in the same breath
I thought the one championship engineered by a Dodger
would have lifted the inept curse.
                                              No.

I agree with Tooth.  With all the talk of Redlands' D and Oxy's O, I think the difference in the game is going to come down to the two less heralded squads on each team.

thank you for making my point. If you talk to Dodger fans, the Dogs are the 1925 Yankees with all their dominance.

I know there are some Dodger fans who talk like that (I am careful to only make comments like that to Giants fans :D), but that was not so much my point.  I was just trying to show that during the last twenty years the 2 teams have been more or less equal.

I have no beef with Angel fans like yourself who have followed the team through thick and thin.  I just can't tolerate "Angel Fans" who believe Angels' history started with the Rally Monkey.

Oxyjeeves,

I didn't have my Almanac out when I made the 1925 yankee comment..apologies.

The Angels flat out choked in this series. This one feels like Dave Henderson, The 82 collapse against the Brewers and one game playoff loss to the Mariners in 96.

The Sox hit the ball in clutch situations and Angels did not. Very dissapointing indeed.

Out coached, out hit and out pitched.................hard to win a series with that senario.

the worst part of all this, is that the Dogs are still playing. My lifelong baseball inferiority complex shows its ugly head again. :)

I do however feel that the Halos have the neccessities and buoyancy to win next year. :)
