Looks to me like the ad may have expired . . . I don't see it anymore.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

OK....any thoughts on whether Oxy will host a first round game?  It would seem unfair to make them play WU at WU.

bbaddict

It IS a longer trip from California to Oregon than from Oregon to California.  I think we've had this discussion before on the BB board. ;)

That, and WU is ranked #10 and Oxy at #15 right now.

So, no chance that Whittier or PP will beat Oxy?

OK Bob, but what about the MIAC winner who will probably have two losses?  Is it really that much more expensive to travel from Ca to Oregon than Minn to Ca?  I wouldn't think the difference would be that great.  It sure seems like Oxy should host the first round, they have had a great season.

IF there are only two 'Left Coast' teams, pairing them is ONE plane ride.  Dividing them means TWO plane rides.  It ain't fair, but it IS NCAA D3 economics.

Hmmm, if Willamette and Oxy each win their last two games, Willamette will be 10-0 and Oxy will be 9-0. Willamette has a better Strength of Schedule, and nonconference wins over Concordia-Moorhead (tied 1st place MIAC), La Verne and D-2 Southern Oregon while Oxy has beaten Menlo, Chapman, and winless Colorado College. Willamette also played Cal Lutheran and beat the Kingsmen 31-17 while Oxy barely squeaked out a 24-21 win. Other than that, it's unfair.

Point of clarification---Southern Oregon is actually NAIA, not D-2.  I had to look it up because I kept thinking, why isn't SOU in the same Conference as WOU.

Most likely they'll pit the NWC against the SCIAC. That makes the most sense. There are all those other teams much closer together -- IIAC, WIAC, MWC, and MIAC -- that can pair up easily. It's only fair that the higher seed gets to host as long as they keep winning. At least that's what they've done in the past, as long as the school gets their bid in.

To quote former Oxy FB alum, Coach Jim Mora Sr. during his stint with the Indy. Colts, "Playoffs!!!! What Playoffs",.....

The reason why I bring this up is because as much as some of us want to look further ahead in the schedule, we still have this saturdays game. Granted that we are playing the mighty Chicken Nuggets/Hens who are struggling and probabily will continue to struggle, i can assure you that the hens will be spilling their guts out on Patterson field in order to win.
Why??? Well because its rivalry week.
On line, we have the oldest rivalry west of the mississippi (i had to sing that song just to remember how to spell that. oh wait did i even spell it right) and the chance for the winning team to posses on of the rariest trophies in the west coast (the drum).
The battle for the drum will bring out the best and very last fuel that pomona has in its tank. For them, the battle for the drum determines if they had a decent campaign in 08. In addition, i am sure that they really want to knock off a ranked opponent and claim bragging rights.
However, after focusing and fixing their mistakes, I can assure you know that the Drum will be staying at the Rock. As much as we may want to look further, its a game like this that will test the Men in orange and black in their quest to stay perfect, to stay focused and to be able to play as a whole.

Gee, I was look ing forward to some lunchtime rants on the political board.

Just all you die-hards remember...my vote can cancel out your well thought/fought vote.   :-*
