What an interesting day.  I usually only come over here to read the articles and look at the pictures, but today it seems like a civil war has broken out - everyone's picking sides. As Voltaire said, weakness on both sides is, the motto of all quarrels. People seemed to have forgotten that it takes two flints to make a fire. My daughter tells me that she sometimes loses her temper, but, usually, it's all over in a minute.  I tell her, so is the hydrogen bomb, but think of the damage it produces. I hope tomorrow the hot feelings going around will get doused and things can get back to normal. I, too, hope OB returns and everyone can kiss and make up, so to speak.

I'm pretty sure you're checking this out as a Guest.  We miss you and will really miss you on the BB boards, especially during playoffs!

The day that SCIAC posting died...

While flying over the great nothing that is Iowa, a plane crash killed SCIAC posters RFBuddy Holly, J.P. "The Big OxyBopper" Richardson, and Ritchie "Scandihoovian" Valens...

I ran out of references to SCIAC posters so I just threw Scandi in there, oh well.   

So you are going to start in on the Iowa jokes now.  Watch out brother, we already ran one of your great ones off, we can do it again. 

I didn't know there were any Iowa jokes.  I thought they were all true.

Ooops - sorry - blame it on the two years I spent in Nebraska.  However, I'll miss OB and hope he returns.

I'm disappointed that OB went away.  Overall, I thought he was far more positive than negative.  But let's be clear on one thing - no one 'drove' him away.  When several people whom he had harassed for years stood up to him, he chose to slink away.  Which confirms my original assessment - bullies are typically cowards when someone stands up to them.

BTW, I do want to apologize to everyone for the f-bombs.  That is definitely not me, and will not happen again.  But I had asked OB several times politely to lay off, and nothing happened.  When he attacked yet again on the 5th, I snapped.  While my post was inappropriate, it did finally accomplish what politeness had not.  But I never wanted OB to leave completely, just to stop the harassment.  Completely leaving was HIS choice, not my intention.

Just so the rest of us don't step on the landmines, what's the hot button - Obama or Illinois Wesleyan?

You've been non-stop on my case for nearly two years now for something I never said in the first place, and I have finally decided that (like Paul Bunyan) "I'm a big-hearted guy, but too much is enough!"

OB, you are a bully, a liar, and a generally pathetic excuse for for a human being.  (Sorry to hold back from my real feelings, but Pat would probably delete them.)

My apologies to SCIAC posters who don't know the origins of this post.   And, yes, I realize my karma will drop drastically from the same cabal that got OB where he is.

JP....the truth be told.......I was trying to avoid OB at all costs.  I had forgotten my 9mm.

If I were OB, I would have picked up my marbles and gone home.  People today know better than to "joke" about shooting someone.  Where I work, if some a**hole makes a "joke" about bringing a gun to work, they are placed on leave and undergo a screening from a pyschiatrist to determine if they in fact pose a threat to others.  And instead of removing the post - and  the poster - from the site, the webmaster posts a justification for the comment - explaining that OB makes some posters mad.   Sorry PC, you are usully right-on, but this time you blew it.

I suppose you can understand that the paternalistic "relax" probably isn't what I was looking for.  It seems fair to ask what it was about "If he had gone to Illinois Wesleyan we would have never heard the end of it" that provoked the reaction.  You could have chosen to respond to OB by PM but chose otherwise.  Perhaps OB deserved to be called "a bully, a liar, and a generally pathetic excuse for for a human being" on the board, but I've been on the board for more than 2 years and have watched OB for a good deal of that, and frankly I don't understand.  I do understand that he rode people, but he also was pretty good at spotting fakery.

One time wonder........how do you threaten someone by DOING YOUR BEST TO AVOID THEM with something you FORGOT?     Simply, no threat was intended nor even suggested.  It was simply Ob's way to respond.  Maybe you should go back and read the entire page or so.  I am sure that your response is exactly what Bob wanted to achieve.
