Sounds like an exciting Saturday of football. Does Oxy and Linfield play next year.
I believe it is just this year (though it's possible that they could end up with a common opening they need to fill next year...)  I think Linfield has CalLu and LaVerne next year though...

Yes, next year is the start of two-year deals with CalLu and LaVerne.  With Pacific back, I'm not sure what Linfield will do (stay at 9 games, go up to 10 games, dump SOU, dump one of the Cali schools).  I'm just purely speculating because I have not talked with anybody on staff about next season's schedule.

The Linfield BBQ is fine but I would like to meet the So Cal  D3 posters so I can put a face with a name.

Our tailgater will be easy to find . . . just look for the Airstream (aka the "Silver Bullet") in the tailgating section of the parking lot next to Bell Field.  Bell Field is the softball field to the right of the main campus entrance.

Shoot, I may have to show up early and pull a "Summerall" before the broadcast.
Why don't you set up your own "Game Day" stage in the Quadrangular Quadrangle....you could do special interviews, maybe Pat could be Lee Corso to your Kirk Herbstreit :)

Ok.  Who's gonna put on the mascot head?  We can save money and get a big cat head and then if the guy picks Oxy, just draw some stripes on with a sharpie.

I'll gladly put on the Wildcat head---no stripes will be needed. :)

D3 academic/athletic power ranking...good luck to everyone this weekend. I now spend my saturdays watching UCLA football. :)

Now that would not be very nice after they finally returned the call. I know, the money. How does Menlo do it again?

Good thing for the champs that power rating did not stop at 99.

Nihon Tiger

Sadly I won't be making the 18 hour each way flight back to Cali to watch the game this weekend.  However my parents will be making the drive down from NorCal to see childhood buddy Linfield #28 play all of my old Oxy teammates.  If you see them with PPJ stop and say hi.

I think they're still angry at Linfield for never making they playoffs when he was on Linfield and I was on Oxy.  Looks like that might be changing this year so if we're lucky we can get two games against the 'Cats, eh?

Hope everyone enjoys the game, the sun, and of course the 6am-11pm traffic.

Proud Papa Joe

Mom is coming with for sure, don't know if pa will make it. To busy playing with the olives and the almonds are late. So all you socal posters keep an eye out for PPJ and his two ladys. I will be wearing last years catdome shirt. Have a cold bud light ready. Or cold anything.

Being a newbie I just wanted to extend a hello to everyone who follows SCIAC and D3 football, I have definitely enjoyed reading all the topics that came up while I was playing (obviously for the good ole U of R, hopefully I can contribute to some meaningful, but never too serious, discussions...

If you're referring to this Saturday's game, I haven't seen any coverage in the Times.

At the risk of being a scraper, the local Oregon rag said this:

Quote
The Linfield College football team faced a difficult challenge Saturday in its opener at Maxwell Field.
...

The Wildcats faced the challenge just fine, thumping Hardin-Simmons 37-22, and moved into the top 25 at No. 14 in the d3football.com poll.
...

The schedule doesn't get any easier for the the Wildcats, who play their next four games on the road, starting with Saturday's game at Occidental.

If you referring to Oxy-Linfield history, then there's this:

http://articles.latimes.com/2004/dec/05/sports/sp-oxy5

and this

http://articles.latimes.com/2005/nov/20/sports/sp-oxy20

Thanks a whole big bunch for reminding me.
