Clarification to Nihon Tiger I am a relative of the Whittier RB. Get your facts straight. I admitted it a few months back when asked. We are Italian and we watch each others back understand sunnyboy?

Pat Coleman

Hi -- welcome to the boards and keep the veiled threats to yourself.

Being in So Cal I can see why "sunny" is on your mind, but of course, the word is "sonny."

That brings back a memory.  Back in 1966 I was just starting a two year Navy ROTC program with a summer "catch-up" session held at Purdue University.  We stayed in one of the Purdue dorms right across from a dorm housing a Head Start program.  One evening we were heading out into town and waiting for a guy named Roy, who was late.  Tired of waiting, we started yelling Roy's name and for him to get his butt down there.  Soon a guy came running out from the Head Start dorm.  He said it sounded like we were yelling "Boy" and wanted to warn us that if we didn't stop we might get some other people coming down that we had not intended.  That shut us up. :-X :-[

I think we've had this conversation before. I believe if it's a 3-way tie then the no-repeat "Rose Bowl Rule" applies, and the conference AQ would go to the team which has not appeared in the D-III playoffs most recently. That would be CLU. Of course, the Kingsmen could end all doubt by beating both Oxy and Redlands. To fend off that possibility, I will start praying for rain.

2007 - the Rose Bowl Rule finally comes into play and a 5-4 conference champion CLU team (?) finally reaches the playoffs ... Unless Oxy somehow loses to Whittier (but there is no way that could happen).

I think the moral of the story is win the SCIAC outright or miss the playoffs. Ask CLU 2005-2008, Redlands 2008, Oxy 2007... Harsh but very true reality especailly when the race is so close every year.

As far as the rain goes (Oxy-CLU 08') ... Though I would never say weather had an effect on the game (its football) a sudden downpour is awfully inopportune for a game tying field goal. That memory is going to burn for a long time.

STOONK...MY MAN - see you on the pigskin this Satuday for a big homecoming win. Or if you are feeling up to it, see you at PJ's pregame, wear your best gear I know you got the goods

snoop dawg

Kingsman   I was at that game, it was like God telling everyone not to be Lutheran.  I have never seen it just start raining so hard on que like that before and then stop as soon as the play was over.  I was under the overhang by the locker room.  That was really weird.

...and it only rained on the field!

SCIAC Fan

I went to the CLU-Pomona game, and the Kingsmen dominated the Hens. CLU held Jake Caron to 99 yards on 11-of-29 passing. CLU did a great job harassing Caron, and took him out of his rhythm. CLU pressured Caron from all sides. The kingsmen also held Pomona to only 31 yards rushing. Standouts for CLU were Eric Lopes, Jericho Toilolo, Matt Valley, Chris Hammond, Christian Edwards and Brian Stuart. Hey snoop, Matt Allen played well but you already knew that since you are buds with his dad. CLU is loaded, people, and they are going to win the conference. Sorry Oxy and Redlands.

Nihon Tiger good one calling out Clayton Cardenas for talking about himself in the 3rd person. Next time ask him where the best strip clubs in Albuquerque are.

snoop I was also standing under the overhang at the CLU-Oxy game last year but I thought you were in the school book depository across the street. Nice to see you're still hanging around like you're part of the SCIAC. You remind me of the guy who crashes a family picnic in the park -- everyone there is wondering who you are and why are you there. OB that was funny about Oxy and the Rose Bowl.

Sabretooth I read that article written by your SID but sad to say it reads like something from a bad high school paper. "Tied with No. 22 University of Redlands going for a last second field goal to win, Occidental used a last ditch effort en route to their sixth consecutive victory over the visiting Bulldogs, 27-24, tonight at Patterson Field in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown before 1,450 fans." "Groh sent the ball 44 yards and was downed on the Redlands' two yard line, downed by J. Washington, the second time of the game he pinned the Bulldogs deep on their side of the field."  Is that what passes for good writing at Oxy these days? If it is that's pretty sad.

SCIAC Fan, I haven't seen that much smack since Kurt Cobain was alive.
