Congratulations to Cal Lutheran on a big win yesterday and their first outright SCIAC title and playoff berth. This time of year it's all about the SCIAC so good luck next week at the CatDome and bring home the victory.

I have an In-and-Out burger I've been saving for you for a couple of years TC. You are rooting for the wrong team. I even altered their bumper slogan for you to put on the pick-up.

Doesn't the big money high school Carter Oak Oaks Christian  have a stadium the NCAA would love? One phone call from Joe Montana might do it. Mt. Clef is so intimate - and the crowds always respectful not to become involved in the game - that you can sit field level 270 degrees, in a lawn chair!  The other 90 degrees is behind the players - can't see.
It reminds me of the LINFIELD days when we could lie in the pole vault pit and watch a couple of the 54 winning seasons.

Whos whoop it up in Who-ville and happiness shines in the Conejo Valley.

Congrats to the Cal Lutheran football team for a championship season.  Whew!!!

Kingsmen4, some things never change.  While being recruited I also was told to expect a new stadium during my career, in 1986 by then head coach Bob Shoup.  It was supposedly to be carved into the hillside of Mt. Clef.  LMAO.

Also if you see a middle aged man holding his temples and screaming madly @ the Lindfield V.S. Clu game it will be me hoping the spruce goose will fly.

Obama didn't play basketball at Oxy; that's a myth. He did, however, admit that he smoked marijuana in his dorm room while at Oxy, so maybe a tour of the joint would be a hit.

And the hits just keep on coming.

The Spruce Goose does indeed reside in McMinnville, and for a mere $11, unless the price has been raised, one can go inside it.

Ok, Cal Lu, you did it!

Enjoy your bus ride up. Where will you be spending the night again? Got to get the boys ready to make those 3 AM calls to your room.  :)

LuavilleCat

Congrats to Ca Lu for a very successful season!

As OxyBob will tell ya, host city for the first round, McMinnville, is a first-class act. Enjoy your run, but purple is power. Couple it with red and one has "fire power."

If you SCIAC posters don't know, especially Ca Lu, the Kingsmen was once a popular name around the Pacific Northwest.... only they played "Louie Louie."

That song's lyrics have such deep meaning.  ;)
Probably only appreciated in the NWC or Obama's old dorm room. :D

I know we have a lot to be happy about around CLU right now, but this win brings up a very old gripe...

Hopefully this long awaited playoff bid will be a wakeup call to the CLU admin/decision makers. Should CLU ever receive the rights to a home playoff game (no it will not happen this year, but is getting closer every year), the NCAA would not allow us to house it at Mount Clef because it does not meet many obvious and necessary regulations (full press box, visitors’ locker room, stands that can house a proper number of fans, etc.).

Don't get me wrong, I love Mount Clef stadium and would not have wished to play anywhere else (Plus seeing the visitors fans all bunched together in three youth soccer sized bleacher set ups is pretty hilarious), but having to play a home playoff game away is pretty ridiculous - and would defeat the purpose of earning a home game.

Considering every other CLU athletic team to my knowledge has received all new facilities and playing fields/stadiums in the last few years with the expansion to "North Campus", I find it confusing why the team on campus that brings the most enrollment by a large margin cannot receive the nod to have a new stadium, or at least have it in public consideration.

My brother played at CLU from 01'-04' and on his recruiting trip was told that he would play in a new stadium in his career, and I received the same story - meaning it was in the works LONG ago and still has not surfaced as a priority to the school.

Though it is not sold as a recruiting point now (Old Mt. Clef has all the charm in the world on game days, especially when housing a big win to Redlands), I think it is time to build something that is at least viewed as acceptable to play an NCAA playoff game there.

Had to get that off before I forgot amidst celebration of a great game and season. I love the school, and the support from CLU to the football program has continued to rise in the last decade, but this seems like a no brainer.
Linfield it is?!

Go LU!

Kingsmen4;  With MIAC poster and www.JohnnieFootball.com contributor TC sticking his nose in SCIAC business I figure I should prolly add my two cents as well.

If you're interested in a new stadium you need to get ahold of your former head coache's father in law who is also a Thrivent Life exec.  I met this gentlemen on his trip to Minneapolis to the home office several years ago.

As mentioned, his son in law was the head coach prior to leaving for Canada a few seasons ago.  Not only is your fellow Kingsman alumni highly connected from an executive level, he told me he had never in his 40 some odd years as an alum had never missed a Cal Lutheran football game!

I gotta believe with a little support from you he'd find enough sheckles between Minneapolis and Thousand Oaks to build a nice tidy little football stadium.

Just a thought.

Developing.....

Karsten is a very loyal supporter, and not only has he not missed a CLU game that I have been a part of in the past years, but he also leads the famous post touchdown candy toss in the stands, every time CLU scores and NEVER misses one of those either! He (to my knowlege) is already a large supporter in many ways to the school and program, and I'm sure would want to be a part of new stadium talk if he already was not in the past. I don;t think it has been a lack of funding, but instead an issue that has simply slip to the wayside in the eyes of the school.

CLU has added not only a new athletic complex and fitness center, but also two new pools, basketball arena, a new baseball stadium, a softball stadium, tennis courts, a new amazing dorm building, a new facilities building, and new classrooms among many other face lifts and builing around campus. When the announcement for all of these plans was released a few years back it included all future planning and a new stadium was not part of this. Initially it was to be done in the later phase of building with the sports complex, but that seems pretty much done and over now.

I know an issue was where it would be - one idea was up in the hills where CLU has a ton of open land, but it was also said that they would do it where the current stadium is. Either way, I think its about time the schools steps it up and rewards it's football program - The funds are out there.

I appreciate the tip!

:D

With the NCAA picking up the tab the Kingsmen will ditch the bus to enjoy first class private jetting from Van Nuys private airport straight into Portland, but unfortunatley due to lack of options/modern technology I hear have to take an old "Beaver" float plane into the middle of no-where that is Linfield.

I also have caught wind that they will be staying at the McMinnville Four Seasons ... so direct all calls there. I would target the captains as they are very serious, no joking type of guys - so it would really rattle them for sure.

(Oaks Christian - thank-you CalCat)
If a bigger stadium is what you want, than maybe the next time Oxy gets a post season game  they can play in the Rose Bowl.  That's something even USC can't do. ;D

snoop dawg

Congrats to CLU on a nice win.  I was there and think I saw stoonk passing out hats and items.  It was a hard hitting game and fun to watch.  The game seemed to turn on UR offensive mistakes. CLU had a great crowd and the entire campus seemed involved.

Coach McEnroe is doing a great job there and from what I have been told, much of the local talent is now considering going to CLU because of the coaching.  If that happens the SCIAC could have a new dominant team.

Good Luck against Linfield.

Wildcat'64

Since the Kingsmen will be flying to the Northwest in their chartered jet....I suggest they land at McMinnville International Airport.  They don't have regularly scheduled service out of MIA but handle charters regularly.  MIA is the worldwide headquarters for Evergreen Aviation and handles lots of charter aircraft.
The McMinnville Four Seasons (Comfort Inn) is right next to the airport and limousine service(call a cab) is available.  The Spruce Goose is right across from the field in the middle of the wine vineyards so you can actually walk rather than call the limo service.

Enjoy your stay!
