Whats next, Whittier in the Stagg Bowl!?

No offense.  I'm just trying to get a +k from Oxy Bob.

BTW.  The Bruins have a good attitude going into the USC game.

Here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area there has been a steady increase of purple apparel and other things related to TCU.  There is even some increase in SMU gear.

Fazios resign as Redlands assistants

The University of Redlands will head into the next season without a couple of key figures who led the Bulldogs defense to national prominence.
Defensive coordinator Skip Fazio and assistant coach Vinny Fazio, Skip's son, have resigned effective Dec. 15.

"It's a definite loss for the Bulldogs family," head coach Mike Maynard said. "They were a big reason for the success we have had. They are both good at what they do and that was evident."

Skip, 56, had served as the team's defensive coordinator since 2005. During his time at Redlands, the Bulldogs have become the top defensive team in the SCIAC, leading virtually every defensive statistical category during the past few seasons.

It was very sad news when we were told both Coach Fazio's would not be at Redlands next year.  The only thing the players were told was that Vinny was trying to get a full time coaching job at a local high school, but no reason for Skip's retirement.  Coach (SKIP) Fazio is respected and loved by his defensive players so I'm not sure of the entire story at this point.

Eyewitness report from Whittier:

Highlight of the day was spending it sitting with Fear the Poet, and getting to meet former WC standout players Anthony Pomponio and Matt Reaber, both of whom are leading successful post-graduation lives.

Greatly appreciate the compliment OxyBob! Sorry it took so long to join the board, but now I am on for good! Hopefully we will see some improvements from Whittier so I have something to talk about next season  ;D

It was great meeting the FAMOUS OxyBob, and I look forward to seeing you at the Battle for the Shoes @ Oxy next year

Congrats to all the ALL-SCIAC guys this year. List is always a little suspect to me, but I guess we are always biased towards our own guys???  :P

CLU with another player of the year - congrats to Stuart and the O-line. Toilolo though not having a big statistical year did what he had to do to get his team to the playoffs and that will outwiegh any personal award. Look for a record breaking career for freshman Eric Rogers at reciever the next three years.

CLU Having 6 guys on the 1st and 2nd team D that will return next year, scary. All but 3 defensive players notched a first or second team spot.

All the guys that didn't make it on, you got something a lot cooler than all-conference, you have a ring. I would trade for that one anyday.

See you all next year, better get to work now as CLU is taking this momentum and running with it for a while!

Go LU!

Congrats to everyone who made the All-SCIAC list.  Always great to see first team guys who will return next year.  Danielson will anchor the o-line again next year, and J. Washington should continue improving even with more defenses focusing on him in the future.  Big Jim Hildensperger should also be back for his Senior year and wreak some more havok in the trenches.  still can't decide if LB Kyle Spaulding is more valuable for his on field play or his inspirational YouTube videos (I would link, but they might be NSFW  :o)  Big ups to all the Seniors who topped off their careers by making the list, also.

Of course I'm extremely happy to see Werth get Defensive POY, as I've been pushing for him to get some major recognition.  The guy draws double and triple teams nearly every play and still puts up big numbers.   You know it's bad when the poor opposing coaches have to tell their outmatched  O-linemen to try and cut block him on 5 step drop passes.  The best part for Oxy is he should be back next year as a 5th year senior since he missed his Soph year with an injury.

if anyone is wondering why 2nd team LB Zac Perkins is listed as a Senior, I believe it's because he will graduate after only 3 years and not return.

Like Kingsmen 4 I think there are some guys that didn't make this list who should have, but what can you do, at least we don't have an NWC-esque mega-list.

Oh! Yeah? (ah so?)

And please take them off before the 'CATS come to town next season as a humble gesture. No bowing lower during warm ups - wait until after the game, please.

The rings are for this year's team. Next year, once spring ball comes, the rings come off because the run starts for another.

The only thing that the LU will be focused on when the cats come to town is taking down the best team in the West, then heading on to the next game.

The difference is next year the CLU alumni group grows a bit bigger and will be full of guys excited to heckle the cats a bit in the purple pit. Looking around in McMinville me and the few others that were on the sidelines realized we were outnumbered by about 2,000 (McMinville populaiton, yes they were all at the game, shirts off, Natty Light in hand  :D).

Keep on winning, beating the National Champion from the past year will make it that much more sweet!  ;D

I'm going to enjoy Linfield beating you guys the next couple of years.  :)

I believe oxy has a few from the last couple years, right nihon tiger?

Nihon Tiger

Actually the only Oxy team that got rings was '04 when they went to the West Region finals.  The next two Oxy SCIAC champ teams got watches, and last year's team got squat... not even a t-shirt.  Must be the recession?  In any case I believe there is now a rather arbitrary but money-saving rule that Oxy has to equal the '04 team in order to get rings again.
