We cannot order any. That's not fair. We have to win it all.  :-\

Haha well maybe they will get a t-shirt then. I got one that said co-champ and I think used it to wash my car or something (sharing with redlands is the worst).

Who makes that call the school or the sciac?

It's up to the school . . . and I'm not aware of any new rules. I think that it most likely flows from the changed economic situation that is impacting all schools . . . it is a radically different time don't you agree?  Spending $$, or asking donors, for conference championship watches/rings or such is simply not a priority in light of the big picture and economic reality.  I'm pretty sure in athletics that the coaches would rather have equipment, travel and per diem funding . . . and avoid painful cuts.

Agreed.  The memories you get from a championship season are way better than anything material you could get anyways.

I think that the 04 team got rings because of some generous donors btw... I'm pretty sure I remember someone saying that anyway...

Donors?   :o for conference championship rings? Boy youngsters are spoiled nowadays.  When we won the NAIA National Championship in '80 if you wanted a ring you had to pay for it yourself.

Kingsmen4

I assumed when I first brought it up that players would be paying for their own rings. I know some players bought their own in 07' when we shared the title but most opted out. CLU is definetely not in the position (to my knowlege) to shell out $$$ for rings. Expenses are always first priority as stated ^^

The memories are great, no doubt they won't forget those but I guess I assumed you get some sort of small "trophy" to remind you of those memories. Then maybe a plaque to remind you of the reminder. Then you would prob need a note on the fridge, followed by a string on your finger as well...  ???

Having a few rings from High school that I never have even taken out of the box is pretty cool I guess when you think to look back at them, but rarely even happens.

I will check into it and see if there is any sort of ringesque type thing going on for the LU. Damn recession.

OFFSEASON is here - anyone know of SCIAC players that are striving for the next level?

D3football West All Region team announced:

Pretty decent SCIAC showing, Oxy had two deserved first teamers in Groh and that D-End with the long name I won't attempt to spell.

Also congrats to Brian Stuart, Derek Wilson, Justin "Batman" on making the cut, pretty impressive seasons for first year D3 players - showing that transfers can come in and help a team in a positve way, beyond individual accolades.

Best of luck in offseason preparation and recruiting, and for those seniors that just had their careers come to a slamming halt, good luck in whatever your plans include moving forward - nothing compares to playing college football though unfortunetely...

I have to think Groh is going to try and make it somewhere.  The last 3 years he's averaged 40.5, 42.2, and 45.9 yds per punt.  I think the NFL average is somewhere around 44ypp.  He's also really good at killing punts deep inside the 20.

Congratulations to Jacob Calderon, 2008 SCIAC defensive POY, and stand out defensive end for CLU. He has recently confirmed he will be a member of the Green Bay Blizzard, of the IFL for the 2010 season. Good luck big boy!

It is a sad day when the Los Angeles Times does a story on former LINFIELD coach Mike Riley on page one of the sports section and puts former LINFIELD coach Jay Locey's picture instead.   :D
