However, I'm not going to let one or two D-Bags ruin my impression of the other fine CLU folks I met in TO

I certainly didn't on my trip to McMinnville.

Pat,

Next time there is a big game in Mac and you think about coming out the game...don't bother.  Since we have enough D-bags in Mac we don't have enough room for one more.

I also was amused when the California Lutheran University faithful let go with the "Over rated!" chant to the 16 losses in 10 years opponent.
how about supporting your own team and chanting "Under-ra-ted!"

OxyBob

That's funny b/c from behind the North endzone during that chant I heard a 'Lu player say "You're not overrated, we're underrated!"

Yeah--I heard somebody say that as well....but it didn't stop the fans from the chanting.  Nice meeting you by the way Nihon.

Just cancelled my trip down to the Redlands.  My son got injured in the ETBU last weekend (shoulder) and it looks like he's out for this week (and I am slammed at work or I would still go).  Next week is our BY so maybe he'll heal and be ready to go for the CAL LU game in October.  Has NEVER been injured enough to sit out of a game BUMMER!

Good luck (and injury free) weekend to all!

Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say after this weekends games.  It's like getting a front row seat without having to travel. :D

coco

Sorry for your son. I wish him a speedy and full recovery. It sucks to see these kids get hurt. They play for the love of the game and work so darn hard.

No injuries to anyone else!

What happened Cal Lu? Sad day... Hopefully the Dogs can get a win for the SCIAC!
It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.

Well it's not fun "Listening" to the game instead of being in the stands.......but at least things started happening in the 3rd quarter, I was getting bored, but "1" quarter left and we all know how things can change in the last quarter so I will stay tuned until the end........... :D  GO DAWGS!

Looks like CLU is over-ra-ted!

OxyBob....sounds like you don't think they'll win the SCIAC....I tend to agree, CMS and Redlands look pretty tough...

Article about the Oxy-Pomona rivalry in today's Los Angeles Times:

QuoteTheirs is a 'big game' of a different stripe

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-0919-then-20100919,0,392915.story

QuoteOccidental may also have the winning edge when it comes to its mascot. Pomona's mascot, the Sagehen, which is a large ground-dwelling bird also known as the sage grouse, doesn't exactly strike fear and dread into the opponent's heart.

What would you rather be, a Tiger, or a Chicken?

What happened Cal Lu?

Ben McEnroe had the canned, trite, why-we-lost-the-game explanation in the Ventura County Star:

Quote"The bottom line was they were the better team today. They played harder and executed better," CLU coach Ben McEnroe said. "We came out a little flat and just sort of sat back and let them bring the game to us."

Quote"There is nothing positive we can take from this game. I think it's a valuable lesson for our kids and their preparation," McEnroe said. "They can't take anything for granted, and they have to understand they have to work hard every week and show up with energy, intensity and enthusiasm."

I always love the bitter comments of the losing coach.

"They were the better team today." Translation: "We're the better team."
"They played harder and executed better." Translation: "I can't believe those hacks beat us."
"We came out a little flat." Translation: "They were lucky."
"We sat back and let them bring the game to us." Translation: "We'd beat them 99 out of 100 times."
"There is nothing positive we can take from this game." Translation: "We lost to an inferior team."
"I think it's a valuable lesson for our kids and their preparation." Translation: "We absolutely sucked."
"They can't take anything for granted." Translation: "We should have killed them."
"They have to work hard every week." Translation: "I'll be screaming at my players the entire trip back to LA."
"They have to show up with energy, intensity and enthusiasm." Translation: "We're the better team."

Sure it's early on a Sunday but that game up north has been over 16 hours and not one Solute has come on to congratulate PLU.

Everyone knows how you feel - and fell - so it does not need be a dissertation on what went wrong; a simple "good game" will suffice.

RFB

Wow! I guess we have to officially regulate them back to Cal Who?
