Southern Oregon is one of the schools he's purportedly considering.  That school's website still shows the head football job as being open . . . no announcement of a hire to be found, as of a minute or two ago.

I don't recall which other school is in the running.

Other school was Western State in Gunnison Colorado -

Their website still says 2006 caoching staff to be announced.

This was posted today by Gray Fox on the General Football board, thought it was worth repeating here.

Better late than never for this story.

According to the Western State Webiste Myanard did not get the job there or did not want it.

I am glad that Maynard is still at Redlands for now. Hopefully he stays and keeps the ball rolling. The coach they did hire did not have any previous head coaching experience but does have ties to Western as a former player and coach. Some posters on D2football.com feel the wrong coach was hired. Anyways, is there any news from the Southern Oregon search?

DawgHeaven

According to footballscoop Maynard is the guy thet they want.  They seem to be pretty bad, but supposedly they have some goo history.  Here is the link:

Redlands will be playing at Trinity on Sept 16.

See Bonzo's comments on the SCAC board about flying out on Friday afternoon this time rather than on Saturday morning.

Coach Maynard has pulled out of the coaching search at Southern Oregon. This is great new for Redlands. Here is the link, thanks to WC11 for the heads up.

This is good news for Redlands, and for the conference.  Coaches like him do a lot for providing consistent quality across the SCIAC.  It will be interesting to see if this was a one time shot for Maynard or if he might take a look at what else is out there next year.  Could it depend on how well the Bulldogs come together next year?

OXY Oswald

Shopping himself around could have been a way to figure out his value to programs outside D3 and the SCIAC, it might be an indication of the future like scadi mentioned.

But either way, good news for the 'dawgies.

The front page says that coach Carlson at Whittier has stepped down after three seasons. I really thought that Whittier had the right coach and that there would finally be some stability in the program. They will never win anything when coaches stay there one to three years. Hopefully the new coach Hammer will commit and get the program moving forward and upward. If he is looking to coach for a few seasons to move up to the next level then Whittier hired the wrong guy.
