Jacob Caron was the North QB in the D3 Senior Game.    He looked very good.

Pamona is North of where??? San Diego?
The South QB was Justin Feaster of Hardin-Simmons.  So Pomona is north of Abilene, Texas. ;)

How does a player get left off of the ALL SCIAC team, but make the All Region list?

Ryan Younker is a beast - top interior lineman in the west. Glad D3football.com got it right!

Quick question about my Leos ... where the heck was Cedric Ho this season? Sorry but all this talk about All-Conference reminded me about 2009 NewComer Cedric Ho. Why doesn't he have a single statistic recorded for 2010? Was he kicked off the team or something??? IF anyone knows PLEASE let me know where this kid went! I was hoping with him back we would have atleast been a 4 win team this year!!!!  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ Well maybe with a senior dominant team and a new HC my Leos will come out of the seller and actually be worth returning to home coming for

Talked to Cedric before the Linfield/La Verne game.  Very nice young man.  He suffered a lower leg injury that put him on the shelf for the entire season.  He should be back for the Leo's next season.

I hope his tweet game is back in full swing for next season.

Any of the Kingsmen folks here heard the rumor that the turf at the new stadium is going to be some combination of puple and yellow instead of the traditional green?  Smurf turf at Boise is bad enough. The red at Eastern Washington is horrble. Could this possibly be true. I heard this from a CLU athlete.

I think the blue turf in Boise and the Red turf in Eastern Washington is over the top and ugly.... but kind of cool....

Defenetely is a gimmick but has brought needed attention to both programs - and since they have put in the turf both programs have had surges...

I havn't heard anything but I can't say that I would hate it until I see it.

Hawaii QB said during an interview that from his perspective a non-green field like Boise State didn't make any difference as his view was the same.  The view for the fans at the game or on TV is more controversial.

This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.  "There are three types of baseball players: those who make things happen, those who watch it happen, and those who wonder what happened."

Eastern's "surge" is due to the fact that they already had a good program, got a DI QB transfer, some Cali skill position kids and Montana had a down year...red turf hasn't gotten them a televised game yet outside of the playoffs. And they still only average 4k at home games...my high school in WA averaged almost 6k.

I'm a big Boise State fan, but the turf nonsense needs to end. And river is right, the only advantage Boise has is the fact that opposing coaches usually spend some extra time with film since it can be hard to pick out players from a camera in the Press Box.

I don't think pink turf would get Eastern a televised game outside the playoffs, but there is no denying the fact that after they got the turf their program saw an increase, and the same can be argued for Boise. Obviously turf won't win you games, but if you are getting blurbs on sportscenter that is a few million more people that now are thinking about your school that wouldn't have been otherwise, and likely talking about it too. Increased knowlege of a program helps recruiting, and in turn can bring in the likes of D1 transfers, etc.

Same reason 11 runs a blog, and highlight reel - other than giving the Linfield faithful something to do in the offseason - it is a big time window to the program and creates a knowlege of the team that would not otherwise be there.

Thats my opinion of course.

Recruiting wise it's going to be a few years before you can measure any additional success because of the turf. The whole Big Sky gets DI transfers (especially Montana and EWU) because they are one of the better conferences in the country, and the only one on the west coast.

I could write a lot about the way EWU recruits and the reasons the turf may (but mostly may not) be helpful. But it wouldn't do much good. The SCIAC poster clearly know a lot more about Eastern than the person who has spent most of his life there.

I admittedly know nothing about EWU and try not to spend too much extended time in the Northwest in general, so we agree there.

The only reason I know that EWU football exists is because I saw a highlight of them and the ESPN guy said a funny comment about their turf. NOW I know that not only does EWU have a football team, but that they are competitive (drawn from the fact that they were in the playoffs), and most importantly that that they have RED TURF. I will also not forget or confuse their program with any others in the NW like SOU, WOU, WWU, and any other schools that may be up there because I know they are the "team with the red turf".

I grew up in AZ where there is no DIII football and very little recruiting from DIII was done at that time in the state due to the cost of sending people out. The only reason I knew that DIII football existed and that there were teams as close as CA was because my brother played at Cal LU. Since then Cal LU has had 5-10 all conference players from AZ, and they continue to recruit heavy there - bringing in kids that had probably before their phone call had never heard of DIII athletics, the SCIAC, or Cal Lu much less.

Its all part of the same idea, every school needs tools that increase their identity - gimmick or not. For Cal Lu it was one guy that stumbled upon their program by chance. In turn these tools increase exposure at a more national level, and undoubtedly help recruiting.

Kids don't go to EWU to play on red turf - that’s not my point (though I'm sure some would argue that it was part of the decision). My point is more people know EWU exists, and can remember who they are because of it.

"There is no doubt that one of Boise State's claims to fame has been their blue turf and like it or dislike it, it has certainly brought them a tremendous amount of notoriety," EWU athletic director Bill Chaves said. "In a similar vein we have a tremendous opportunity at Eastern to do the same by differentiating ourselves with the red turf while providing a superior playing surface."

K4,

This field will be an epic fail when in 3 more years the color has faded and EWU is playing on a pink field and has to pony up another 500K plus to replace it.  There is a reason why Boise has to replace their turf every few years and why Field Turf didn't even bother in trying to win the bid for the EWU project.
