Maybe Oxy could replace them with Macalaster or some other JV program.

I wonder who the SCIAC teams will play to replace Colorado College.

Reviewing the Colorado College opponents since 1999 thru 2006, CC has played Oxy every year.  They have played PP 6 of 8 years, CMS 2 of 8 years and Whittier 3 of 8 years.

Oxy can make the best case for continuing on the schedule as one of 3 non-conference games.

The interesting thing is that last season was the first 10-game season since 1973 and a 10 game season had occurred only 5 times in Colorado College's 125 year football history.

Ralph,

I think Oxy likes to schedule similar academic schools and establishing a traditional opponent regardless of their recent football success, so your statement makes sense.  I think any of the SCAC schools would qualify in this regard except only CC is part of the West.

RFB--Mac or someother JV. Man that is cold!

I guess along that line.  Upgrading the non-conference schedule.  In reality how much would that really help post season?  Given last couple of years and the emphasis on keeping travel costs down would that really help the SCIAC?  It seems to me that we (SCIAC) hopefully Oxy, is stuck on the west coast playing a NWC team first and maybe even 2nd round every year.

As I am far from Calif.  what word about spring workouts and recruits for SCIAC.  Too soon for fall projections?

Ralph,
We SCIAC fans know that a season should only be nine games. ;)

That explains why Pomona-Pitzer stayed out of the league so long and denied the SCIAC an automatic bid.

The CCIW schools will be "in-region".  I can see the CCIW playing on the coast.

I can foresee the SCIAC picking up a Trinity or an Austin College from the SCAC, but only Chapman has played an ASC team (HPU) in the last decade in football.

WashStL and UChicago are now in-region, too.

Now the ASC has been more aggressive in scheduling NWC teams...Linfield, Willamette and Menlo among others.

Here is the post.

Redlands will be playing Trinity for the third year in a row. Good to see.

I've been in Dallas about eleven years .  I've seen Chapman play at HSU and have seen La Verne play at HPU also.

I'm looking forward to my second Redlands at Trinity experience this year.

I visualize regular series involving CLU, Texas Lutheran, and PLU.

Interesting thought, Gray Fox.

CLU/PLU has been pretty regular for the last 10 years or so - I don't know how hard it would be to fit a trip to Texas into the travel budgets but it would be fun to fuel a three way competition between these relatively isolated Lutheran schools.

I do like the fact that the Kingsmen are set to play Willamette this year in addition to PLU.  Should be fun to see two NWC matchups...

Meanwhile Oxy continues to schedule NWC powerhouse Lewis & Clark...and they wonder why they got thrown to the wolves in the 1st round last year.   ::)

Pat Coleman

We knew going into last year that they were contracted for 2006. They've played every year since 2001.

Since most schools are gearing for summer rest and relaxation, what's the word on spring football at any of these SCIAC schools?

Is Redlands ready to re-group and re-build after falling down for 2 years?

Is Cal LU loaded with the same people that eventually had a nice run toward the end of the season and got them 2nd place.

What's the word on Whitter? I know they had close games with almost everyone, but can their offense really keep them in the game this year?

I know that Oxy has been doing while on the field and off the field during spring ball. In my opinion this team should be loaded and ready to take another SCIAC crown.
