Pat ,you do need to come out and see the new stadium. i believe its the only football stadium in the nation with a art gallery ;)

Well, we'll see. It might be the only football stadium in the nation with an obstructed view press box, too.
I think we have one of those at Linfield as well...those pesky polls get in the way at either end if I'm not mistaken...

That's one thing in a classic stadium that's supporting a grandstand. That's not what this is.

My question is if Redlands wins out, will they get a bid and go to CLU again?  Will they get a bid?

Answer to your first question: No.
Answer to your second question: No.

As a CLU fan, I too am sick of Linfield, mainly the trip up to Boregon.

Boregon. Good one, especially from someone who went to school in Thousand Oaks.

From Urban Dictionary:

QuoteThousand Oaks is an extremely boring bedroom community roughly 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Once a nice town with a western feel. Great place if you are a rich Republican or a mindless soccer mom. Nearly all the cool parks and nature are gone. Wildwood Park now smells like a sewer. Ventura County Sheriff harass teenagers on nearly an hourly basis.

I, for one, am glad OxyBob has found things that interest him

The light poles are placed oddly, they should be behind the seating instead of in the middle of it.(at least there is a press box in this one) they also under built the seating(2200+1000 temp),should have built it for 4k.Oh well its not perfect but it really is nice, the whole sports complex really came together.

Actually, the great majority of pairings (and hostings) follow the seedings, but GF is correct - ultimately (despite the selection committees) the bean-counters will sometimes overrule seedings to save money.  Such is life in "The Minors". :P

The good news is that (despite the occasional cries of conspiracy theorists) there is no evidence that the bean-counters get involved in the selections themselves, only (occasionally) in the pairings of teams once they have been selected.
These things happen most to the "island" conferences such as SCIAC, NWC, and ASC.  It also happens in basketball, and I assume other sports.  I remember a few years ago when Oxy had a fine basketball team and was sent to Mississsippi to play.  Four teams were playing two nights in a row.  They were paired with the best team in the first round because the other teams were tired of playing against each other so soon.  Somehow the committee allowed this.  So instead of getting a second round game, they lost in the first.

Yeah, I remember that fiasco with Oxy BB.  If I recall correctly, the presumed #1 and #4 seeds were the same conference, but rather than pitting #2 Oxy against the hosts, they could have done #3 against the hosts with Oxy playing #4.  IIRC, that was an abomination that should not have happened.

And you are correct - the 'match-ups that shouldn't have happened' are almost exclusively the west coast and deep south (including Texas) teams.  It's your own fault for being so far away from most of d3! ;D ;)

While such 'improper' match-ups are unfortunate, the deeper point I wanted to stress is that there is no evidence that teams are not selected in the first place due to cost concerns.  If you deserve to be selected, you will be selected (though, naturally, at least 5-6 teams' fans disagree every year! ;)); though, alas, you may or may not get the match-up you deserved.

This is pretty hilarious and accurate. At least Eagle Rock is on the up and up huh OB? According to these rave reviews from the same site (Urban Dictionary):

"Many parts of Eagle Rock are becoming more trendy and less plain sh***y"...

"Infamous for druggies to be more specific, popular for tweekers and potheads. You know one when you see one because you are one too. Everybody knows everybody if not, they know somebody that you know. Also where everybody is trying to be "emo" or gangster."

But there is always the "we are close to Hollywood so there are things to do" ... Huntington Park is just about as close.

Anytime T.O., McMinville, and Eagle Rock are being debated, we ALL LOSE.

TO Pat Colman,Mr. Mosier,( of CLU fame) gave a little plug to d3.com. in the ventura star.He was wondering why no love ever comesto CLUs o-line? ;D

Saw the video! There are 239 offensive lines and we've had eight Team of the Week releases so far. Not sure if Cal Lutheran's line has been nominated for all of its games but I know Cal Lu does nominate players.

senior OL GIO LAPP with a rushing TD this week while playing some fullback would be an ideal OL nomination...

Chapman's is pretty bad, if I'm not mistaken. Unless that was before they finished the home side.

Chapman has a very good press box. Home and visitors coaches' boxes, announcers/scoreboard booths along with plenty of camera(s) space with clear views to all parts of the field. There is heat and air also available, along with all cable needed.

A very cool, beautiful place in L.A. filled with artists and great places to eat & shop & look at old houses with great landscaping.

Not surprisingly, you missed that one.

You should be more concerned that there is an ex-CLU placekicker who's going around claiming that he was a football player.

The visitor's press box is the one with the issues film wise. No doubt it looks nice but if you have seen game film from the visitors side it is horrible - there is always a pole in the view.

Normally when ALL AMERICAN follows your name you don't have concerns with those claims.

Funny coming from someone that used to post regularly about the famed Oxy punters. But hey who is counting?  ;)

CLU homecoming ramblings.

You are right the new William Rolland stadium is nice but not perfect.  The playing field is aligned north to south and the home stands face directly into the sun. combined with 90 plus temps on homecoming the fans were wilting from the heat.  If visitor side stands are built I would make them the home side so the fans and team are not staring into the sun during day games.

Another aspect of the field being aligned north to south is the wind.  Unless a game is played in a rainstorm prevailing afternoon breezes will be a cross wind.  In Mt. Clef the passing attack and special teams kicks would be either into the wind or with the wind at your back.  Not crying sour grapes, just noting the difference.

It was surreal to be in the art gallery (enjoying the air conditioning and bronze statues) and watch CLU score in the south end zone in the second half.

All in all, a great homecoming.  the game was a blow out and it was good to see old friends.

Go Kingsmen!!!

PS.  If you come late to a home game at the new stadium bring a folding chair, you can set it up behind the north endzone.

enjoy ur day!

Tough loss for the Leo's vs. Redlands this weekend. They played Redlands tough, just did not have the horses to get over the hump. Missed some opportunities, and when you are playing a team that is physically superior to you, you just can't afford to do that, the margin for error is simply to slim.

Enjoyed my trip.  Had never been there before. Really nice campus that sort of sits literally in the middle of nowhere.. Opposing fans were cordial, with the exception of a small group that decided to hurl obscenities at the parents of the La Verne players as they entered the stadium, but everyone else seemed well behaved. I don't think they expected to get the fight they got from La Verne on the field.

I will say this, and I have been around the game a long time, that was quite possibly the poorest officiated game I have seen or played in at any level. Not that it would have changed the outcome of the game but some of the calls, and no calls were truly mind boggling.. Such is life in the SCIAC I suppose.

Hopefully we'll have a better outcome this weekend.
