Redlands held Sweeney to 0 yards rushing.  Just saying.  8-)

Redlands has held every running back that was out with an injury this year to 0 yards. I'm surprised they haven't been recognized nationally for that yet, its an impressive stat.

Just in on the news wire ... they also are leading the conference in W-L percentage for warm-ups at a perfect 100% ... still the raining SCIAC football warm-up champ as well (I believe they are going on 10+ years). It will be tough to knock them off with such a strong pre-game routine, it is obvious the hours a week that they put in practicing, coordinating, and perfecting their tough guy persona.

I wonder if the NCAA will finally consider this when doing next week's regional rankings?

Hey ... +karma for that!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

CLU another dominate performance after a slow start.  Seem to have things rolling pretty good going into the end of the season and the playoffs.  Just curious if anyone heard the live broadcast of the chapman clu game.  Never heard announcers rag on their own team so hard.  Pretty comical to say the least.  :)

D O.C.

The TV broadcast was amazed Chapman held such a lead. One of them announced " this down is the gamer for the Panthers" in the second quarter. After that they DID recount how many times aaa Chapman had a chance this season but could not follow through.

I thought they did a good job and the quality was great.. :-*  NOT like the mess at the Rats game.. what a joke that was..  :-[

Looks like we could see a rematch with the SoLute's or DOG's at the catdome :)

Redlands dominated Whittier last night in all phases of the game. Whittier had trouble moving the ball against Redlands 2/3rd teamers.

Good to see Redlands put in a solid effort heading into a huge game at Chapman.

I see that North Central whipped ranked Wheaton to wrap up their conference. Nah, Redlands win over them doesn't mean anything.

rfb,

it could be worth a rematch with Solute's   :)

Have to get by Chapman first. Even then it's a doubtful reality.

From what i saw last night the dogs should be ok "IF"  they play their game... good luck.  :)

I know where your skepticism comes from RFB, but if Redlands wins out I don't really see how the committee leaves them at home this year.  The win against NCC and the fact that there just aren't that many Pool C teams with only one loss and a win against a Quality opponent.  St. Olaf's loss this week solidified the Bulldogs (assuming they take care of Chapman) play-off spot, IMO.
Go Cats!

Should be an entertaining game involving two very different offenses that do well what the opponent's defense doesn't necessarily defend well.  Could be some fireworks.

DoubleDomer called it, except the Oxy D got the hang of it in the second half.  The biggest factor in the game, however (which has also consistently been the deciding factor in each of Oxy's W's), was the team posting a positive number in the turnover ratio column.  The kids are gamers.

For those who might have missed it, Pat Coleman has written a customarily sagacious analysis regarding Redlands' D3football ranking in the Daily Dose "Triple Take" column this week.

RFB,
Your evaluation of Redlands' playoff prospects is both heartening and cogent. Sadly, I can't go past the salient factor that our Dawgs have not played well enough on the road this season. Unless Santa Claus is on the DIII Playoffs selection committee, I don't reckon that a West Regional At-large team will be gifted a home game. All the same, wouldn't it be fun to have another crack at Cal-Lu? ;D

As for the droll put-down by "Kingsmen4" about Redlands that "it is obvious the hours a week that they put in practicing, coordinating, and perfecting their tough guy persona", one only needs to check out the closeness of Kingsmen vs. Bulldogs games during the past decade to see irrefutable evidence that neither team has needed to artificially manufacture a tough guy persona. Both of these estimable teams play plenty tough!  ;)

The closeness of the games has been due to the fact that Redlands is and has been a very good team. My comments regarding Redland's toughness is simply my perspective that I have gained after playing them for 4 years and then spectating for the following 3. No doubt they are a VERY tough team. But if they were truly as tough as they acted in warm ups and on the sidelines ... they would be a SCARY tough team. And, if they were as good on the field as they were in their rehearsed warm up chants and barking ... they would be a year after year national contender...

BARK BARK!!!! I got hit by Redlands linebackers and DB's quite a few times (enough to know what they were all about - and enough to know that when I make fun of their linebackers for pillow fighting I mean it), and ya it was hard every once in a while ... but when the whole sidelines (including scrubs that didn't have a grass stain) are barking when you got hit but caught a pass in front of them, it is laughable - that is why I continue to make fun of it.

We WELCOME the dawgs back to Mt. Clef 2.0 in a few weeks - take care of OXY and we can get what we are hoping for!

Great photos!

An entertaining game, to be sure; yin vs. yang, featuring a match-up of two hard-nosed quarterbacks.  Given the way the game started, I thought we might be looking at an over/under around 120.  Glad things settled down a bit.  Once the defensive play improved, the only other thing that the CMS faithful could have wished for would have been a little more thoughtful play-calling in the fourth--I'm sure I could have modeled "The Scream" for Munch as I saw the double-reverse halfback hairy-high-school option developing--but that's not really a new issue for the Stags this season.

Collis is a great talent, by the way, not to mention a real load to bring down.  (Going to be glad to see him graduate, though.)
