Screw the Drum; Redell, Andersen, and Ciasulli on one sideline and Sweeney, Widolff, and Dobson on the other would certainly add a nice touch of spice to the annual meeting between Oxy and CMS.

Yes, with some Oxy coaching talent on the sidelines Claremont might actually win a game with the Tigers.

Last night the school where I teach held its graduation ceremony. One of my students is headed to Cal Lu. He is a talented wide reciever and a great all around kid. Although I tried to convince him to go to Linfield I would like to wish good luck to Caleb Lowe and enjoy your time as a Kingsman.

***No known Chapman football players are featured in this video***

D O.C.

I would state with much regret that I missed any Chapman football player - and every cheerleader - in this spring's underwear run.

A couple of articles from the Eagle Rock Patch about the Oxy head coach transition from Dale Widolff to Bill Redell...

Bill Redell in the Eagle Rock Patch:  "Occidental is a very fine academic institution certainly on par with Ivy League schools"?  Huh?  Is there, like, a secret Ivy League that inhabits a parallel universe?  I mean, Oxy is a swell place--but that's quite a whopper for a Christian man to be telling.

Final 2011-12 standings in the Learfield Sports DIII Directors' Cup out yesterday.  Order of finish by SCIAC teams (out of 317 ranked DIII schools):

14. CMS
35. Redlands
51. Cal Lu
109. LaVerne
114. Pomona-Pitzer
135. Oxy
196. Chapman*
267. Whittier

*Still technically an independent.

Congrats to CMS for another finish atop the SCIAC.

And congrats to Oxy for besting . . . well, I guess, Whittier.  Maybe there's an opening in the Ivy League?  (Seems like a match; you guys already claim to be proximus orienti.)

dahlby

DD,
Chapman has not been an Independent since last year when they joined/were accepted by the SCIAC.

DoubleDomer

I agree with you, Dahlby--but the Learfield folks don't.  They still list Chapman as unaffiliated.

First of all, if you're going to tout something, at least get the name right: Learfield Sports Directors' Cup.

What can I say, DoubleDomer? Whoa! Wow! CMS finished 14th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup?! That's amazing! Here on the SCIAC football board we wait with great anticipation for the results of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. And CMS finished 14th? In the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup? Un-be-lie-va-ble! The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. Rolls right of the tongue, doesn't it? And CMS finished 14th. Fourteenth! Of course, the way that CMS pads its test scores, CMS probably figures that it won the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup.

Just curious: How many points did the CMS football team contribute to CMS's 14th place finish in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup? Oh, yeah, that's right -- zero.

In what trophy case is CMS going to display its framed certificate for finishing 14th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup? Please find out because I certainly want to stop by and take a picture of it next time I'm in Claremont.
