OXYBOB...WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU!

Jack, garbage.....are you proud of your words when the SCIAC student athletes, who do read these boards, see what you have written? These student athletes work hard in the classroom and on the field. To personally attack them, as far as I am concerned, is totally out of line. You really should be ashamed of your choice of words. I have only participated on these boards for a short time...but had grown to respect your postings, but no more. minus K for you, and more if I could!

My choice of that word has nothing to do with the schools themselves, just the football competition.  I am a SCIAC guy and don't think it's anything many other posters (from outside the SCIAC) haven't said before.  Just for you, since you are obviously passionate about this, I will go back and edit my original post, but the feeling is still the same.

DC1,
Thanks for the advice. I don't generally smite, and don't follow my karma score. I was, and still am, upset about Jack's wording. It was so crude. On the other hand, maybe I should just consider the source.
Thaks again.

OxyBob,
Although Chapman football doesn't go back to the 1800's, you seem to forget that we had a team in the 30's, or so. Is the memory on vacation?

I have often wished that we had a formal rivalry with another SCIAC school, but don't know how to go about starting it. I do know one thing though, every team we have played this year has taken us seriously when the game begins. So, like kissing your sister, it is all we have for now. I am open to suggestions though. I think it would be neat to have a formal rivalry.

By the way, I am well aware of your rivalry with PP, although I didn't realize that it was that old. I was complimenting your Tigers. Don't be so touchy or defensive.

I sure with Cal Baptist or La Sierra would start a football program!!!!!

It takes a special form of dedication to be considered a serial smiter. Smiting a dozen people on multiple days, even when they haven't posted anything new -- that's dedication of the wrong sort and not beneficial to the community. There have only been a couple of people like that in the past few years.

Lets face the facts....the SCIAC is ... not a competitive league .  Take away Cal Lu's record and there is nothing special.

Edit: Overall SCIAC record, including CLU: 18-31. Lousy. Take away CLU: 12-30. Really lousy.

It's the same old deal for Cal Lu.  Until they can beat Linfield, they will never be considered "elite" and will struggle to get recognized as anything more than the best in the SCIAC.

The SCIAC hasn't won a first round playoff game since 2004 when Oxy beat Willamette and Concordia-Moorhead before losing to Linfield.

I really wish CLU would get paired up with someone other than Linfield in the 1st round but I don't know how likely that is.

CLU @ Linfield. As GHC would say, "Phone it in."

The SOS of Cal Lu isn't that great and it's likely they will be around 7-8 in the Regional Rankings, which means another trip to Oregon for the 1st round.

Yep.

Maybe the NCAA will open their pockets for once (highly unlikely) and send CLU somewhere else or bring someone in, but I'll believe it when I see it.

They won't spend the money, they won't send CLU elsewhere, and you won't see it.

Fear the Poet

man, its tough being a SCIAC fan. People calling the teams garbage and I also read a coaches blog this morning where the coach totally blasts Whittier and their fans.........I mean "drunken fans"??

I understand that reputations are earned, but darn it, their are so many good people/fans of the Poets and in the Whittier community.

Best case for CLU to play someone else is for Pacific Lutheran to qualify for the playoffs. PLU at Linfield is cheaper and maintains the seeding better. However, I don't have a team I can drive to UMHB the way things are looking, so Cal Lutheran might get sent there instead.

I hope so.  It's my best chance to see a SCIAC team.  I got to see Redlands last year.

Interesting with C-LU and University of Mary Hardin Baylor in the same post.

IMHO the reason UMHB lost at LINFIELD in 2009 was they played two Qbs. That, and good defensive adjustments by the home team.

I want to see nobody with purple in their uniforms in the first round. Pat, while  CLUs  defense is struggling this year Whittier has some weapons.Mr. Fooks can play and their freshman qb throws a decent ball .

Pat,

I know where this is heading again  :-\   ... I can not find your rules for" only" posting good smites for the community anywhere? I will ask you again ?  What rule? what page did i miss? ??? If i don't agree with another  poster/guru then it's smite time every 24 hours by your own rules.   Freedom to APPLAUD OR SMITE  the american way .. :'(   I have followed your rules over the years with only a few "gray lines" that i can remember .. 8-)

I have thanked you and your staff every year  for the wonderful job you have done  for Division 111 football on  your site. Hope you keep up the good work..
THE SERIAL SMITER...  DC1 :-*

What about the SERIAL  APPLAUD  FOR MY CAT buddy is that against your rules too? Even if they don't post everyday? It's just a question ? ???
