First off ,La verne's rb is fantastic. The best rb (and josh hill) we have seen this year. He's strong, quick and can run away from defenders when he gets loose.Good job mr. Biggers :DNow on to more important things.... CLU will not beat chapman unless they can find some kind of run D.The lack of depth is staring to show. They had 2 interior d-linemen, a LB,

and a DB starter all out and it showed.Calluforlife they were not freely subing  in the second half, they were trying to find some combination to stop the freaking run. they had LBers playing down linemen and a WR playing LB.CLu came out in a zone to start the game and looked great ,almost never saw it the rest of the game. The offense fortunatly is hitting on all cylinders and will keep them in the game.It seems like the D plays a good half and then tanks, this works against lower quality teams but this will not work come playoffs.(if we make it)I hope the coaches can come up with some bandage until we can get healed.

Dad...do you think the qb controversy might rear it's head in the next game or is It settled?

He played a little.
Go Cats!

I think Zach is  the guy. He came out yesterday when he got a cut above his eye.Kevin did a good job and is ready when called upon.THERE IS NO CONTROVERSY.....maybe one of them can play some D :o

CalLuforLife

Shultis is 2nd in passing efficiency and 1st in points responsible for in NCAA Division III. Enough with the QB controversy talk.....there's no question who the guy is now. 20 TD/1 INT....come on!
Cal Lu Class of '93 and season ticket holder for 40 years. My parents were class of '67 and '68 and I grew up on the campus. Go Kingsmen!!!

D O.C.

Yeah, but he didn't play when Ramay almost beat LINFIELD at home for the Homecoming game in the brand new stadium.

Fear the Poet

Congratulations to the Poets for getting those shoes back. It was an incredible showing for our guys. Thank god our beloved Poets accepted the shoes from Oxy in a classy manner, unlike that debacle in 2007 when we rushed the sidelines.

Im very happy for all the kids, and of course when I saw the look in LR's eyes as he hoisted the shoes with his teammates, I think dear ol'dad might have shed a tear haha

Great job!

Whittier 61 Oxy 30

Whittier racked up 561 yards in total offense as the Poets rolled over the Tigers. Oxy got off to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter, but 5 miscues (3 fumbles, 1 INT, and a blocked punt) led to 4 Whittier scores. Congratulations to WC and especially No. 63 for winning back The Shoes. Enjoy looking at them in your display case while you can because they're coming back to Oxy next year.

For Whittier, Kimble Tillman was the star of the game with 8 catches for 142 yards and 3 TDs, a 96-yard kickoff return, and a 3-yard TD pass to Dameron Fooks. Steven Rivera was 31-for-45 for 380 yards passing and 6 TDs. Fooks caught 12 for 138 yards and 4 TDs. Rufus Osby rushed for 115 yards on 14 carries, including a 50-yard TD run.

For Oxy, Tommy Edwards was 33-for-50 for 444 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT.  Matt Tuckness caught 13 for 206 yards and a TD, and Kwame Do had 10 catches for 129 yards and 2 TDs.

Whittier is 4-4 and can achieve its first winning season since 1998 if the Poets beat Redlands at home next week. Note: Whittier is 0-4 at home this season. Oxy is 2-6 and concludes its disappointing season at La Verne.

Speaking of La Verne, the Leopards lost to Cal Lutheran 59-34. Matthew Biggers had a fantastic performance: 34 carries for 308 yards and 3 TDs, including a 63-yarder, and 3 catches for 18 yards. The CLU fans were effusive with their compliments:

Our interior defense continues to be a concern as we gave up 300+ yards to....a LAVERNE RUNNING BACK!

Quote from: doodlesdad on November 04, 2012, 02:08:00 AM
Comments on Matthew Biggers' performance vs. CLU: He's a fine back, but note that he carried the ball nine times for 50 yards in the first half when the Kingsmen built up a 31-0 lead, and had 25 carries for 254 in the second half when the coaches were substituting freely

What a bunch of sore winners. Jerks.

Thanks Bob..it was a fun night.

14 of those 20 TD passes came against Oxy, Whittier, and La Verne, which have the three worst pass defenses in the SCIAC. Of the 240 D-III teams ranked by the NCAA, Oxy ranks 230th in pass defense, and Whittier ranks 233rd. Plus Shutis got another 4 TD passes against 0-8 Claremont, which has less than half the players as CLU. So really Shultis didn't accomplish all that much.

This week in the SCIAC:
Chapman has a chance to upset CLU and get a birth into the playoffs utilizing the great "Rose Bowl Rule"
Pomona and Claremont are both lucky because someone has to win this game, giving one of them at least 1 win this season
La Verne has a chance to beat an Oxy team that is down, and cap off their first season with a winning record in SCIAC in a while.
Most importantly- Whittier plays Redlands for a chance to get their first winning season since '98.
I'm callin Chapman, Whittier, Pomona and ULV with the wins this week.

D O.C.

Only if Chapman institutes an underwear run right before the National Anthem do they have a chance.
