Well, it could've been a lot worse for us Bulldogs. Hope no one was seriously hurt against a team whose linemen's size alone put our guys in harm's way.

Coach Goode on radio said some of Sampson's INT's not his fault:  "He didn't do too bad."

Coach Goode happy with Danny Kane and much of "D" guys effort tonight.

UR Radio commentator Mitch McClellan said that the 99 yard TD pass from Mitch Samson to Tyler Irwin was the longest play from scrimmage in UR history – – – – a small consolation, but better than nothing!

Hemmingway, I thought the 'dawgs did well considering it was against UMHB. I picked UR to unseat Cal Lu providing they could find a QB to replace Hurst and I think they have their man in Sampson.
As for coach Good, he is a graduate of Linfield.

Did anybody ask the coaches or get a response as to why they let 15 seconds burn off the clock with 2 downs left and 2 timeouts to call at the end of the first half?  CalCat, Doc, and I were scratching our heads over that one.  Settled for a FG instead of taking at least one more shot at the endzone.....

Here are my observations:  Redlands stuck with the running game too much once MHB proved it was not going anywhere.   They had some success passing but the the QB didn't have a lot of time to throw on most plays.  A couple of big mistakes hurt them including the cut-block called on the QB on what would have been a touchdown on the trick play in the first half.  MHB's #12 could run the ball straight ahead all night--I think he came out after the first half and gave #20 and some others a chance to do the same.  MHB looked much bigger across the board.  Redlands will have to find a running game and adjust their defense in order to stop the run if they are to win going forward.  Their D Line was just getting stood up at the line (3 man front) and then the Linebackers were getting hit 5 yards deep by the O-Linemen that weren't on a D-line guy.  Made for easy 5+ yd gains on most runs.  I think the Redlands QB threw some nice balls but there were a few micommunications between him and WRs that led to some trouble.  I suspect Redlands will handle the rest of the SCIAC and give Cal Lu (a lot of unknowns since they have yet to play) a run for their money.

Great game RU! Your defense really showed up the first half and in the red zone all game. The forced fumble and two Int's around and in the EZ were crucial, and I applaude the RU D for confusing Simms and playing opportune D. I definitely saw improvement over our previous game. Your coaches are doing the right thing.

How is the boy who was injured?

What was your impression of the QB Simms. We're those Int's poor decisions, mix up on routes, or just great D?

Much props for everything. Till next time! Good luck the rest of the way.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Simms was just fine. He throws a good ball to keep the defense honest.
I could see games with 2-3 passes only.
UMHB can run at will.
Simms lost his gumption for the game after the 3rd quarter. He'll have to improve there.

Redlands has the nolutes to worry about before the solutes.

Oh yeah, game of the year in the new stadium with Wesley visiting.

Just fine as in not too good, or fine, he'll do well?

I disagree on the 2-3 passes. We are beyond that now. There would be a time when I might agree, but not anymore. What happened yesterday worked in that type of game, not against Wesley and the top 10 teams!

I think DOC was trying to say that they will have games where they won't have to pass.  Honestly, they didn't need to pass as much as they did last night.

While i think there will be games that UMHB doesn't have to pass in, I hope they never go that route again. One of the playoff issues they've had over the years is getting into a must pass situation and not being proficient enough to get it done. I hope they keep throwing enough that they can when they need to.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

In support of some other post-game comments here, it's worth noting that UMHB outweighed UR's "D" linemen by an average of 30 pounds.
