I have no clue as to why the CLU coach refers to Brandman in his posts.

I do.

Three legs, blind in the left eye, missing ear, broken tail...Answers to "Lucky".

OPPONENT PREVIEW: Chapman University

We're 4-4, that's why I'm not calling them by their affiliate's name, in spite of my Constitutional right to do so. No, I do not feel threatened by any of their senior parents that came after me (and my wife) last year or who threatened legal action. Yes, you are affiliated, look at the banner on the web site. Same logo, and they claim to be part of your "system"...

OFFENSE: These guys are good. They have some very impressive numbers, putting-up huge games against some of the foes on their schedule. I really like their Tailbacks, #5 Kean Stancil, and #20 Cody Chapple. The QB is very efficient, he doesn't throw downfield a lot but I'm sure they're going to challenge us in an effort to hit #1 Robin Harris, a dangerous target. I also like #85 Anthony Ezeakunne, their big Tight End.

DEFENSE: They're pretty good as well. They held-up well against Redlands for the most part (4th quarter), and have been opportunistic at times, like last week when they managed a late Pick 6 to preserve the win against CMS. I like the way #21 Osayande Aikhionbare plays. This is a young, aggressive unit that feels pretty good about itself.

SPECIAL TEAMS: They're always very solid on Teams. Sound schemes, good coverage people and specialists. Nothing new in 2013. Sign of a good team.

COACHES: The Panthers are led by one of my favorite guys in the coaching profession, Bob Owens. I've known Coach O for a long time, dating back to his time as the HC at Whittier back in the mid-90s. He landed at Humboldt State right after I left and we were in touch during that time, and now he's doing a nice job with Chapman. I recruited his Defensive Line Coach, Kevin Ashton, to HSU from Fullerton, so I know him pretty well too.

OVERALL: We're expecting another opponent that believes this is their year to get us since Oxy (who lost to Whittier last week) beat us. Same story as everyone else we've seen since that game, as to be expected. Kicking a dog when it's perceived to be down. It's game 9 for those of us in the SCIAC, and we're still figuring things out about ourselves as a team. In spite of our record, we are the best team our opponent has faced all season and the closest semblance to a Top 25 team on their schedule. We're not strong in every position, but we have enough talent and confidence to give them a fight as they try for their first 8-win season in a long time. Expect a somewhat high scoring affair that might come down to the final possession. We'll see if Lucky still has some bite...

Coach Mac, CLU is not the league champs, you guys lost two games in conference (to Oxy wow (notice I did not say league)) ...just accept you lost...This is not your year...
He sits and brags about his teams, heck two tips of the ball and there never would have been a streak. Did you hear Maynard crying, but you continue to in your Fruit Loops...
You can not win them all, so stop rationalizing. You will be telling recruits you were luck to be tied for second or maybe third...
Cheer on UR in the playoffs, it is the best interest for the league, eat some humble pie and quit posting bulletin board material for the Dogs next season, show some respect ....

Wait, I thought you said you worked with Coach Mac and that he is a great guy? He can't hold a candle to Coach Maynard who is as honorable a coach as you will find. Hey Coach Mac, get off your stupid blog and build on a little thing called class, something you're clearly lacking.

There is a huge difference in us on here cracking on each others programs but I have said it before, the blog needs to go.  I really don't see anything positive that comes out of it.  RFB loves to call CLU "Cal Who" and thats fine, heard it a million times.  Mac obviously upset people by calling Chapman by the wrong name, regardlessof his reasoning (which is pretty lame).  The negativity I see coming from each post just sounds 100% like sour grapes.  It's no secret CLU has been pretty average (if even) this year and I don't see what the bad mouthing of other programs will help CLU gain.  (Cal) Who knows, maybe I am just a grumpy old guy but I think the school needs to pull the plug on it.

I agree with RFB regarding the fact that CLU just needs to accept their short-comings and cheer for the SCIAC in the playoffs.  I don't recall any other coaches writing blogs about CLU being lucky during their streak.

So Coach Mac is pretty much saying the SCIAC sucks and CLU is still the "Golden State Champs"?

I guess we'll see how many recruits McEnroe brings in next year from CLU-Orcutt (located in the Orcutt Union School District building), CLU-Woodland Hills (located in a tilt-up just a stone's throw from Pierce College, home of former Redlands great Matt Wabby), and CLU-Oxnard (located in the derelict Palms outlet mall on the 101).

The inside word is a lot of the Dogs want to go on the road to the Midwest. But let's not over look Whittier they are wired bunch. The Dogs want to win the SCIAC out right first.

Thanks for the head-sup, Dawgdad.
Do you know whether Coach Maynard would be inclined to keep some starters off the field to safeguard from injuries? I'd much prefer for him to stick with the strategy employed for the past two games.

Cheers!

Let's see...go to Linfield and get run out of the state or go to UMHB and get a Texas sized beatdown?  Yeah, I'd want to go to the midwest and end my season by the likes of Bethel of Oshkosh too.  No matter where they go the Dawgs are going to be one and done.

I agree the odds are not in favor of the dogs, wish we could draw Wartburg or St. S.
If the game is within 21, the dogs will have played well, sure hope whoever we play the school streams the game so coach Mac gets a chance to cheer on the SCIAC Auto Qualifier or is it the team from the "East".
Funny thing it is in the SCIAC's best interest to pick up a win but I am sure he wants the opposite, but the Green Eyed Monster has gotten to him.
