What about that part of the rule that includes the words "make florcible contact to the head"?  If the contact was incidental then no foul ... no flag.

The definition of forcible does not preclude incidental contact to the helmet of a defensless player by the helmet of a defender.

Here is an image from the guide given to all NCAA coaches and officials re: targeting...

Here is the UST players hit on the ULV QB...

a clear, albeit small, picture of a players helmet going into the head AND neck area of a defenseless player.

olddog is old and far removed from today's game. Intent, malice, "laying off" (whatever that means), etc. do not matter anymore. The hit certainly didn't appear vicious and I doubt his intentions were to harm, but again, that doesn't matter. This is the definition of a penalty in today's game wether you like it or not.

Whittier has a new coach Mike Neale, DC at Albright. Grew up in San Diego area. Seems like a go getter, hope the Poets don't take the wind out of his sail, tough job...

I like it.  Look forward to seeing how much he re-develops his ties to San Diego County...lots of good high school football all over that area.  San Diego County teams went 4-2 in the prelim round of the CA State playoffs....and were 4-0 in the lower division games where D3-type kids can be found.

SoCal is tough to recruit - among the reasons - all the SCIAC teams are recruiting in the same area, plus the well developed JC football system offers a lost cost/high quality of play and a chance to re-enter the upper level recruiting process...but then he played at Grossmont JC so he knows the drill.  I like the thought process on this.

Best of luck to him.

My take on the hires, he sounds like he is ready and a good guy, but it sounds like the process did not generate much local interest within the league.

Of course they didn't generate any local interest, those in the know would not coach that dumpster fire of a program.

Got anything from the reverse angle that actually shows the contact?  Maybe a couple frames after this one to show if the helmet twisted?

So does it count if you went to the Stagg Bowl when it wasn't actually the Stagg Bowl?  Went for the Final Four for hoops a couple years ago so we checked it out briefly, impressive stadium.

Perhaps not...but having a coach who had a hand developing a team that participated and won a D3 playoff game, might be better qualified to extinguish the fire.  Not many of those floating around locally...

Dumpster fire though it might be, it's our dumpster fire and we love it.   8-)

Purple,

other than the coach, what is changing at WU. The Leos president started making sports more of a priority, increased the coaching budget and added a fourth. Even this year, UR now has a fourth paid coach. What is Whittier going to do differently?

Congrats to Travis Spark for making all American at RB, ULV....well deserved. I thought he was the best back in the league and deserved POY honors. I guess they gave it to Kwami for his body of work in breaking the SCIAC all time rushing record for a career. My last impression of him was being shut down by UR in his last game, getting tired of the pounding, by taking his gear off in the fourth quarter.

Or maybe he got injured and hung it up instead of risking further health issues for a meaningless D-3 football game. Nice job getting a jab in on someone after a congrats.

A fact is not a jab, RBs have to play nicked up, he chose not too. The QB was also hurting but went back in to my surprise, the point being once he broke the record he shut it down because his ankle hurt, he has his whole life to heal his ankle, walked off the field at the end of the game not limping. He got stuffed on the goal line by a 180 Db and did not score, his ego was hurt more than his ankle, game was not over....then said he was done after that play. , he quit on his teammates, that is not POY material in my book,  welcome to the modern era. All the more reason Sparks was the league POY.

Big push for diversity at UR, multiple standards for entry, not sure if the correct approach to the issue. One ethic group called for lower tuition  rates for minorities with like needs, i.e. tuition should be tiered based on color, interesting times. I guess reverse discrimination is not a vocab word in their club. Have not heard if UR is going to get a safe zone yet.....

I hope this isn't true, if so I'll be ashamed to be an alumnus of UR. Everything is under assault right now, just look at what Disney & JJ Abrams did to Star Wars. They should rename it Star Wars "The Feminist Awakes", the original trilogy had its balls cut off.
