That did not cause a ripple and it is a sure indicator of the pleasant soccer football season we all look forward to.

Although if Redlands would have scored, they wouldnt have won and instead the game would have been tied.

Assuming of course they made the extra point, which Oxy has the distinct ability to block when the need presents itself.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

I didn't comment because we did an extensive reconfiguration of the menu rail during last season and I feel that addressed a good amount of the scatter and clutter.

I'll also say, I don't think you or I want every newbie Tom, Dick and Harry on the message board. That wouldn't be a positive for the community.

Maybe one the Oxy posters out there can answer this for me...

What would happen if Andy Collins got injured?  I would never wish injury upon anybody, but realistically its part of the game especially at QB.  Is the Goltz guy a legitimate backup?  What about Philip Guerrero?

Also, who is gonna fill the void left by Josh Jones?

I want to knock on wood before I start talking about Andy Collin getting injured in anyway.  I spent the last two seasons making sure that didn't happen, but like you said you never really know.  If Andy Collins was to ever get hurt I do think it would be a big shock to the tram do to the fact that he is the driving force behind our offence.  However, the second string Guerrero and Goltz are legitimate players on the field.  Due to Collins commanding presence on the field both have only had limited playing time, but they both get equal amount in scout.

As for the void being left by graduating senior Josh Jones I talked about that in a previous post that I will paste on to this one.  Hope it answers everything in full for you:

Third:  The WR will be just fine in the 2006 season even though they lost two great players Jones and Fukushima.   We have four returning WR: Michael Adams has been sitting in the shadows of two great players, but is ready to emerge as a domination player this season.  Michael Winchell has taken time away from the donut shops to dedicate himself to the upcoming season.   He showed us a taste of what his talents are in the 2005 season and is ready to astound us this season.  Rocky Ciasulli will be back and has proven that he has some of the best hands in the conference.    As for freshman, the bulk of our recruiting class was WR so this should make for an interesting time in August.   Should give us the ability to create a solid rotation at the WR position.

Eye of da TIGER

Im chillin at work, so you know I'll say something!!! There are a few of the Oxy posters on this board that just recently graduated, myself being a part of that group.  I know myself and the others are going to every game this year, so is anyone up to meet up before games, at maybe the local watering hole?  We were on the Oxy team from '02-'05, so to make things really interesting it would be fun to meet up with other SCIAC hasbeens  ;) from around the same years. During the season this board will be much more lively, so Im sure that taking discussions from the board to a fine establishment prior to kickoff would be fun!!
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

just curious...what are the Eagle Rock watering holes?

I'm far too old to be included in the SCIAC "has beens" gatherings as described in Eye of da TIGER'S post given that no one in the referenced range had likely even been born when I last put on Oxy football gear.  But . . . as I reach back into the nether reaches of my age addled mind . . . my recollection as to gathering places is as follows:

Red Lion Inn: Not in Eagle Rock  but not far away.  Order a boot or two (yes, a glass boot from which beer may be consumed) and a sausage platter.

Damon's:  In Glendale . . . order a baseball cut sirloin and a Mai Tai . . . but only one if you want to make it to the game.

The Bucket: In Eagle Rock.  The legendary owner, Julio, is long gone but I understand that the garlic and beer remain.  I won't go back but newbies who never knew Julio might like it.

Casa Bianca: World's best pizza and plenty of beer . . . go early so you can get in.

The Capri: Cheap and good pasta w/  beer and wine.  Haven't been there in years.  Don't know how it's aged.

Mijares:  In Pasadena for margaritas and good mexican food.

Newer places:  The Yardhouse at the Paseo . . . 150 beers on tap, how can you go wrong . . . have a half yard or yard.
Lucky Baldwin's on Raymond in Pasadena:  Good pub grub and beers.  Ownership recently changed, not sure if it's for the better.

Any of you younger fellas know what's the tailgating situation at Oxy???

Just been watching the board and I diagree with the Otto Grahmn choice, Tom Clements would be a much better one!!!! ;D

On the newbies issue......well I guess I am still one of them...and while I agree with Pat's rational, dont you want to invite new blood onto the board???  From my karma rating......... I guess not! :D :D

I have been looking for some type of list of Redlands recruits to see if the qb was coming or not.....has anyone seen anything on the issue?  When are d3 schools permitted to start practice?

OXY Oswald

Depending on where you are coming from there's a couple of places East of Oxy that might be worth checking out (both are off the 210 fwy at Lake Blvd.):

Burger Continental: Great Middle Eastern food as well as burgers and kabob's and stuff.  Full bar and decent prices.  An Oxy parent own's the restaurant.

Roscoe's: The famous chicken and waffle joint.  Not really the place to catch a beer, but the food makes up for it.  Good eats.

I think everyone invites new fans on board but making big claims about a team you've never seen play is going to put a hit on your karma.

You may not be able to find a list because it is pretty difficult to compile a list of recruits until the start of the academic year.  A DIII using words like "commit" or other similar words about a kid who might come is misleading because they can still choose to go elsewhere.  So, lists may change, and often do, so you probably won't find a list posted for public viewing.

On another note, it's come to my attention that the coaching staff at Oxy is being shuffled around.

Tyler Fenwick (Off. Coordinator): Has apprently accepted a job at DII Minnesota State, Moorehead.  He will become their Off. Coordinator.

Mike McFarland (Off. Line): Will be joining Fenwick at Minnesota State, Moorehead.  He's coached both Off. Line and Outside Backers for the Tigers.

Walter Fletcher (Inside Backers): Will be joining the staff at Whittier.  He doubled for a short period of time as a Def. Line coach for the Tigers.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Coach Lynch (Def. Line): Will be joining the Occidental staff in the place of former player turned Coach, Johnie Williams.  Coach Williams took a job in the bay area at a JC.

Jim Fenwick (Off. Coordinator): Tyler Fenwick's dad is rumored to be replacing his son as the Off. Coordinator at Oxy.  He would be coming from NAIA Eastern Oregon and I believe runs a very similar, if not identical, offense as his son.
