UR losing 50 or 60 students, yes, important. Not life threatening, but important.

Same with CMS, more of an impact on incoming classes. And athletes opposing the change is not congruent with giving in the long term.

Why would they lose? They only accept 50% or so of applicants. In that myriad of more applications, the next 50 in line will be accepted. The "enrollment loss" only comes in to play with very high acceptance rate schools.

UR typically has about 50 freshman in camp, some make the team others D squad. google fans can post the impact on enrollment with out a football team too...Loosing over 500 to 700  alumni in 10 years will have an impact on long term donations and immediate impact on fiscal budgets. I don't know what business you guys run but if my sales are off 13 to 15%, revenue and operating impacts are significant.

The overall size of the class won't drop. That's what I'm saying. They have plenty more applicants that want to go than get accepted. If the 50 football players don't go, there are 50 non football playing applicants that get accepted who wouldn't otherwise. It only matters if you aren't getting significantly more applicants than you have spots.  Which both Oxy and Redlands do.
