Be very careful of betting against what a sufficiently determined person can do EVER (ever is a very long time).  My wife's alma mater, Grand Blanc (MI) High School, has a student, Alicia Woollcott, who is a starting linebacker for a football team that has already qualified for the state tourney (currently 6-1 in the largest schools division), is a state-ranked power-lifter, and a captain of the water polo team.  She is also the homecoming queen - and it ain't no gimmick: she is VERY attractive!

In ULTRA-marathons, women already routinely finish first.  I'd advise certain posters on here to be wary of predicting what ABSOLUTELY IS IMPOSSIBLE for women at some future date.  You sound ominously similar to 18th century warnings by 'scientists' that women attending college or voting (or participating in any sporting events more rigorous than croquet) would destroy their bodies, minds, and souls.

I've never seen her play, but based on a couple of comments here, if Oxy recruits Alicia Woollcott, maybe the AD will start supporting football! ;D

How does the AD at Oxy still have her job???? Insanity that not long ago Oxy was ranked and a SCIAC contender and now they cancel a few days before the game?? Complete disgrace.

Hey Pat, who wins in a toilet bowl matchup: Fake NCAA Team Lewis Clark Valley or Occidental?

I guess we can look into the future and see the recruiting hook, At Oxy, we only play the games we MAY win...At Oxy we may not play but we practice really really hard at trying...

Here's how:

Stop it. The best women ultra-marathoners are hours behind the best men in 100 mile races and they are tens of km behind the men in the timed races. This is no different than Serena Williams, the best female tennis player in the world, playing with men. She would be lucky to rank in the top 800-900 men. Katie Ledecky can't swim faster than the top 700 NCAA male swimmers in the 200yd freestyle, let alone the top swimmers in the world and she's a world record holder for women in that event. Nobody thinks that women can't play sports, or that the best women in the world at any given sport isn't better than most men. But the best women in the world will never compete with their male peers.

In all this discussion about women playing on men's sports team we're missing a milestone: in a few days is the 20th anniversary of the first points scored by a women in a college football game.
On Oct 18th 1997, Liz Heaston kicked a couple of PATs for Willamette (against Linfield), and this was when Willamette was good.

History made today at Cal Lu as they had a female play for the first time in team history.

"Placekicker Morgan Salzwedel came in for her first appearance of the season, and made history as she split the uprights to bring the score to 42-13."

Chapman took Redlands behind the woodshed for a serious beatdown. Look in the mirror Redlands coaches, this one is on you for the team being grossly unprepared.

Yeah, but can she hit a curve ball?

Hopefully better than I could....

Redlands gave up 618 yards to Chapman.  When was the last time that happened??

Embarrassing. Nothing more to say.

The Oxy AD is just about to end the two biggest rivalry games in the next two weeks.
The Pomona game is the oldest D3 rivalry on the west coast.
