seriously though, I think we led the nation in turnover margin that year (or real close to it) and had 2-3 INTs and 2-3 fumble recoveries that game. Turnover margin was +5 or 6 in favor of Whitworth. Joel Clark didn't really need to do anything...
yup.  We had 5 or 6 fumbles and a pick.  Cats outgained Rats 320 to 85 and lost.  Clark almost literally did nothing.

The 2007 loss was just as bad

Ditto that.  Bummer for players and their families.

Man, that's a real bummer for everyone involved.  I really hope they are able to pull it together for next year.  I would figure they will be working with a returning roster of about 20 so their recruiting better be good.  I really do feel bad for the guys on the team and the parents shelling out big $$$ to send their sons there.

And the humilation continues...

From The Occidental Weekly:

Title IX complaint filed on behalf of football team, alleging anti-male bias in athletics department

http://www.theoccidentalweekly.com/news/2017/10/17/title-ix-complaint-filed-behalf-football-team-alleging-anti-male-bias-athletics-department/2889541

"The complaint implicates President Jonathan Veitch and the Occidental Board of Trustees for their support of Hoffman."

Don't forget what Veitch said:

"Let me be clear: Jaime Hoffman has my full support. I believe she has the skills, vision and commitment needed to move us forward."

Stay tuned.

OxyBob

EDIT: Veitch's office is responsible for conducting investigations regarding complaints against the Title IX Office and the Title IX Coordinator, so you can predict with great accuracy where this investigation is going.

Why would he want to align himself with the Empire, when he can side with the Rebels who are about to blow up the Death Star this weekend.

The last thing I wish to do right now is comment on NFL players and other athletes protesting conditions in America which they believe should be redressed urgently. However, since two of their most ardent detractors in here are brother Redlands Alumni, I feel compelled to support values which I gained from studying and playing sports at U of R (albiet way back before their time) and from volunteering to serve in Vietnam (Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen Province, 1969-70).

Although our squadron's survivors are now dwindling, we maintain regular email communication. And, to a man, they have strongly advocated for the right to protest peacefully in a manner that each American sees fit, which they reckon is exactly what these players have been exercising. Above all else, we harbor the hope that our service meant that America will ever safeguard our inalienable Rights, "endowed by their Creator", whether that's our right to bear arms or our freedom of expression/press/religion as opposed to, say, the eventual communist indoctrination which forced South Vietnamese to follow the conquering dictatorship's ideological dogmas and rituals rigidly. Or say, attempting to turn back the clock and revive the "spurious nationalism" of McCarthyism's blacklisting.

I've much admired Old Dogs' insights on this and SCIAC Pick'em board, but I respectfully disagree with his making negative generalizations about Oxy fans and students. Obviously, the Oxy alumni in here are highly knowledgeable about what they criticize, but I plead with you, Old Dog, please stick to your commentaries about what you have judged to be wrongheaded about Redlands. Even though I often don't concur, there's no doubt you possess far more than sufficient knowledge of our current university and its policies to continue drawing cogent conclusions.

I won't be breaking my "vow of silence" for at least another couple of years, but I do greatly appreciate reading the vigorous and witty exchange of ideas here from such a sagacious bunch of SCIAC fans which invariably has been without the egregious rancor or vicious insults which are prevalent in other online forums. I salute Pat Coleman for setting the civil tone of D3boards.com by his laudable mature example as well as by his common sense interventions when, rarely, that has been necessary.

To all commenters, thanks so much for taking your valuable time indulging a septuagenarian's thoughts on this. As Casey Kasem used to sign off, I wish you blue skies and green lights.

Serious question - how many Oxy students have the 'five year plan'. Most liberal arts colleges of their nature usually groom students to get out in four.

If so, the seniors will have graduated, most likely. So this is curtains for them, I'm afraid.

So, just to fill out this incomplete comparison you draw, did your work also play the national anthem during your shift and require you to stand for it? And did it make this change to the working conditions without involving your union representation?

Regardless of which side of the conversation you're on, the comparison about publicly protesting in your workplace is woefully incomplete.

Pat, many leagues require players to stand for the NA. Those entertainers represent the league, the mistake the NFL made is not amending all contracts in the off season. So if I have a company truck that is assigned to me I can drive around with a pro Trump sticker on it, heck no.
If I have a service rep coming to someone home he can wear "Feel the Burn T Shirt"....I think you missed fired Pat, its all the same, the product is the NFL's not the players, when you are in any stadium on game day,  you are on the clock no different than any other workplace.
This is the same league that did not want Tebow praying, did not want 911 references on shoes, has not wanted any stickers, memorial etc put on jerseys when something happens. They exercise their rights then, but cant on this issue. Talk about a double standard, yet again that is what the movement has become!
