I think UR faithful would be happy if he was the next D.R. minus the ego.

DGD,

You speak of Rolling Rock like it is an exotic import.  Of couse I've had it and have consciously chosen to avoid it from here on out.  I've become to much of a beer snob for that stuff.

Tell your boy Wabby to lead the Bulldogs to the playoffs so they can head north to McMinnville again.  After the game is over you'll need a few to wash away the memories of another butt kicking.  Fortunately there are plenty of good microbrews at local pubs for you to try.

They consistently try to name everybody on the team to make people feel good about themselves, I suppose.

You'd be surprised how many pissed-off parents will make their voices heard to the football coach and his bosses if their son isn't mentioned in a preview.

PC,

For the love of god if a parent ever calls the SID or Coach to cry about their child not being mention in a season preview then their son/daughter needs to turn in their "I'm A College Athlete" card.  Your kid at this point is a young ADULT.

The worst thing that could ever happen to College sports is for the "mommy and daddy" squeaky wheel game starting to creep into small college sports.  This has already killed the joy from most high school sports.

BTW:  F.W. better be the next B.E. or someone on this board is going to never hear the end of it..

Completely agree . . . but the sad reality of the situation is that parents are, in fact, intruding a whole lot more these days . . . "helicopter" parents who hover around their kids and who feel that it is their job to be advocate/protector rather than letting their issue fend for themselves.  Not a good development in my book . . . but as pointed out by PC . . . the reality of the situation.

Parents who act like that do their kids no favors . . . and the kids who accept that kind of conduct by mom and dad . . . don't get me started.

It's almost August . . . only 52 days to the season opener!

I am absolutely pulling for UR to make the playoffs . . . with a pool C bid as the number 2 in SCIAC so the Bulldogs can trek north to McMinnville while the Tigers play host . . . assuming that Linfield remains the class of the NWC and that Whitworth or Willamette don't knock the 'Dogs out of the pool C running.   ;D

Ah . . . but first things first  . . . a week at a time baby . . . a week at a time.

All of the talk about bad beer is making me want to stroll over the YardHouse for a nice cool Blue Primo Hawaiian Hefeweisen . . . .

Read a book on "Millenials" and you'll learn all about helicopter parents.  This idea might be foreign to anybody in here who doesn't have a teenage kid.

DenSLA...what in the world are you saying???????....first you obviously didnt read my post about earning ink or playing time, second of all, I am not a parent of a current athlete, I wish I was.  Second of all my son never had to worry about me interfering when he was in hs or at SC.  He got what he earned, begining and end of story.

I coached youth and hs sports and always had to deal with complaining parents, I never was or would ever be one.  That I can assure you of.

And dawgs57, what are you referring to, ego????? I made expressed some opinions and observations about a recruit that is going to your school and you need to make that remark?  Please..... ........I would think you would want to hear about incoming recruits.  And who is D.R.?

Linfield is now 26-3-2 all time vs. Whitworth and have won 29 of the last 35 against Willamette.  The Rats and Bearkitties better do well out of conference and hope for that elusive pool c bid.

With that in mind that Sept 9 game between Whitworth and Redlands could be a big one for both teams.  Redlands in particular would probably have to win out to make playoffs because I don't the SCIAC would get a 2 loss team in through pool C.

You know, so long as my Tigers make it a hat trick in the SCIAC and we can get a second SCIAC or NWC team into the playoffs (could it possibly be that both conferences could get two in?) . . . both bode well for better seeding opportunities for us left coast teams if Oxy and Linfield perform up to pre-season predictions . . . or better.

Rockcat, RR is brewed in Latrobe Pa. it used to be considered a local brewery when I was growing up in PA.  In todays beer generationit would be considered a micro brewery, I hate that term.

Sorry pal but if you drink Hamm's.....ther is no hope for you. ;D

I would love to come up and see Linfield and the Dawgs play........it would be fun to see a "modern day dynasty" crash and burn!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Im sure I will take a beating for that remark!!!   Honestly, I would love to see tham play and see the school, it sounds like it is a beautiful campus and a  great place to go to school. They really are a dynasty in d3 football , at least on the west coast.

rockcat

I don't touch hamm's.  That was a miac reference I was making.

Just a side not I hear through the grape vine that Bill Dobson will be coaching the Offensive line for the tigers.

I got wind of this also and it's great news for our young Off. Line.  Dobson is a tough coach with great experience.  Look out for a fierce Off. Line taking the field this year for Oxy.
