Now, RFB knows darn well Redlands won't know what they have until they walk onto the CATDOME field.

George Fox & Puget Sound first before the trip to the CatDome. Need to be 2-0 before even thinking about the juggernaut that is Linfield.

DOC, for once you are somewhat right although GF is a solid pre-season game. Their schemes just give UR fits, Hopefully the DC can stop their version of the RPO and it takes a half before our Offense is even focused. Blitz pick up etc..In short we seem to play like poorly against them and at this point I have to give their staff credit.

As always, I'm mucho pumped for another Redlands season to kick off, so many thanks for the team previews from the experts, OldDog and RFB. Of course, avidly awaiting Pat's 'Kickoff 2018' in August to find out what his pundits reckon about our SCIAC competitors.

What a great decade this has been for my Bulldogs! Since 2010 we have averaged just 1 loss per season in the SCIAC, and 3 of those defeats were by newcomer Chapman who has chalked up two championships that would've been won by UR in the "good old days of yore". My elation about the Bulldogs' consistent success is only a smidgen dampened by reading the baffling bellyaches in this board about such peripheral matters as some course that's disdained or that the president leaves games at halftime. But, hey, whatever floats your boats, guys.

Just checked the 'La Letra' from when I was a Senior, and coincidentally that year we also had just a single loss in the SCIAC (to Whittier during one of their golden eras). By the way, there was one African-American and no Mexican-Americans on that team.

I am old and just a fan of leading by example...lost management tool

Go Dawgs! :-)

One of my pet peeves:  a non-conference game is just that ... a non-conference game.  It is not a pre-season game.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

So can I call the SCIAC a league?

Humboldt State has dropped their football program. They will play the 2018 season and then close the books on one of the last DII programs in California. And this was after a successful fundraising effort to save the program by the alumni and other boosters/supporters. Oxy is following the same playbook to a tee.

Read the below link as former coach Rob Smith sets the record straight and does not hold back in his resignation letter.

How does anyone think this affects recruiting for the NWC and SCIAC. I think a minor impact. Basically UR does pretty well in the NW and Northern Ca recruiting kids to get out of the rain, but not too many are legit D2 LOI type kids.

However I don't think most D2 kids end up at schools like Humbolt for different reasons. Scholies, in state tuition, perception of the player they are better that D3.

Could be some small bleed over of talent into D3, maybe a more expensive school could pick up a player or two if the person is poor, but issue benefits the less expensive schools and the RMAC D2 conference. One more reason for Simon Fraser to drop football and what does it do to the NW D2 schools. Drop football, play NAIA, or drop down to D3?

Simon Fraser will do fine.
LINFIELD National Champion Thomas Ford is the new Head Coach.

SF draws about 300 fans a game, Very tough formula across the board...even for an old Cat.

Word is that Chapman has benefited from the fall out over Humboldt's program. Looks like they may get a few players to bolster offensive and defensive lines which i'm excited to see.
Does anyone have an over/under on the number of games Oxy actually plays this year?

Getting D1 Fullerton players and running up the score is the reason they were not approved for SCIAC membership for a few years.  They had to wait until memories faded.  Why would only Chapman get them?
