RFB,

Thanks for the input on Chapman and La Verne.

Sure thing. We ended La Verne's quest for a fourth consecutive SCIAC title in 1996. They were 8-0 coming into the game, and we beat them at their place in OT on the last game of the year. That was also my last game for Redlands and ended it with a SCIAC title. Great way to go out.

1996...I bet that Redlands team led the country in most oversized neck rolls and cowboy collars on a team roster.

We led the nation in team spat that's for sure. And my spat job was always on point.

This is pretty cool.  No idea how long he will stick but it could definitely open some doors.

"Lacombe inked his deal which makes him apart of LA's 90-man roster."

If he's cut then he will be apart of the roster.

The difficult part for the transfers from Humboldt to a D3 is cost of attendance, from about $8k tuition to $50K tuition.  That will be a shock for the student athletes.  Plus, it may also add a semester or two on to their graduation timeline.  How Chapman does not dominate the Conference year in and out baffles me.

Pretty simple why they don't dominate. The best coach and program is in Redlands, CA.

You must have got your off-season honey do list completed and Mrs. WC11 gave you permission to come out of hiding. Welcome back!

They kinda have...Chapman has won two conference championships since 14'-15'. They just built an incredible second half of the stadium that frankly no other SCIAC stadium can compete with (Sorry Redlands, still best grass) and the faculty and students seems very invested in having an exciting football program.
The limiting factors will be the same though. Tuition and grades. Chapman is only getting harder to get into and the price is only going up.

Lots of people in Dallas mention it as a place to go.

Pretty small sample size (2014-Present) but can't really say they are dominate when Redlands & La Verne have a title within that window as well. Laughable about the stadium comment - sterile and without character does not make a good stadium, but whatever makes you feel good. Admittance and tuition cost are a conference wide problem, not just at Chapman. Redlands, La Verne, Oxy, and Cal Lu have all had dominant runs in the SCIAC (1990-Present), so we will see if Chapman can add their name to the list.

From 2010- 2017, Redlands has the most wins.  It is not close.  Redlands is 4 single digit losses away from having 6 titles during that span.
Team   Wins
Redlands   54
Cal Lu   45
Chapman   45
Claremont   37
Oxy           27
La Verne   27
Pomona   17
Whittier   11

But wait, if we are talking 2018 and the new math and equity and stuff..shouldn't RB turn that number around, to make it fair, and let all three top teams feel good.

Pre-season votes mean absolutely squat. It's filler material and I don't mean this as a shot at Pat and this website. USC was ranked #1 in 2012 and they went 7-6, so don't give a lot of attention to pre-season polls.

D-I is not the same as D-III, and this is one lovely example. :)

YEAH!  What did you have Mount Union ranked preseason 2017, PAT?!

Word is that Chapman has benefited from the fall out over Humboldt's program. Looks like they may get a few players to bolster offensive and defensive lines which i'm excited to see.
Does anyone have an over/under on the number of games Oxy actually plays this year?
Getting D1 Fullerton players and running up the score is the reason they were not approved for SCIAC membership for a few years.  They had to wait until memories faded.  Why would only Chapman get them?

Mount Union can beat alot of the D2 TEAMS.  gaining a few D2 players is hardly going to register on the national stage.

The 14 win, was close and the Football gods were in CU favor, it happens, UR has had their luck too...CU blew out UR last year...I agree..
But the wins by UR in between, UR dominated CU upfront...they were not close...So in no way can you say CU has dominated..
If you want to look the last 8 years, UR has been in the title hunt 7 of those years...the Regals has a good run, LV had a stud RB one year, and meanwhile UR has been in the thick of things pretty consistently..along with CU...
Less than two more years of Gavin.
