Come on, Whittier, you're not going to raise money for a women's assistant volleyball coach or be able to recruit anyone who's interested by charging $10 for your product.

Redland offense is flat out not very good. How much of it is the QB can't throw the ball or they wont risk it. It is clear every defense is just going to attack zone read. Have we forgot to throw the ball to the TE or are we just going to let the FS come up and play like a linebacker. What is up at RB, we are playing just one guy. Granted he is tough as nails but this is not Maynard like. I am worried how about our skills for the next couple years if this is all we got...I missed this one.
On defense, man they are good, but the defense has been the hallmark of the team the last 8 years in my opinion. The irony is every team knows what UR is going to do ( sit in 335, walk down 34 look or 4-2) and they have not had much success. Clearly the defense is well coached, ready week to week to take away the other team. I can only think of three or four bad games (Chapman last year) ...in the last few years.

Chapman game, the D will keep it fairly close, but given how poorly our O has been playing. Second worse in the Conference, Whittier is doing better. Do I need to say much more at our odds. Maynard is a very smart coach, it will be interesting to see what approach they take to the issue. This is the worse offense I have seen in memory at UR....It will take a miracle to win Saturday.,

I want to send out props to the OXY coaching staff and players. They aren't as bad as most people think, by far better than low tier MWC conference teams. OL never gave up and actually they did OK on RPO with such a young team. Gotta love a team that has WILL to WIN no matter the score. Hat's off and they will surprise a few teams in the SCIAC.
Talking about Offense, CLU running game is on point and the interior OL are beasts; however the passing game is suspect. Defense is just physical and fast out of the 3-4, would like to see more 3-3-5 or a 5-3 walk down. I feel that this conference will be won on special teams and who supports their D with most points.

man---a lot of what you just typed could have Linfield subsituted for Redlands and still be true.  I watched a good chunk of the RU-Pomona game and was shocked at a) how bad Redland's offense was and b) how well Pomona moved the ball at times.

The guy who kicks off for CLU is great. I think all were in the end zone.

He flat out BOOMS it, a transfer from University of Utah! I've seen him hit 58yds in practices. I told one of the coaches, if you can't score by air when needed go to the LEG. It was nice to see pacific and stout both win games, as I think the shift of parity in the SCIAC & NWC is changing.

There were not many positives for Oxy.  However, the fullback running lanes were nice.  The QB has some issues with the dive read, and should have given it much more often.  The shotgun formation is not working.  They should just continue under center.  The defense is a real concern.  They did a lot of catching instead of tackling.

Wow Check every box on the PC train in that case. Seems she had a big hate on for the FB program, Panic Buttons, no direct contact, Assistant AD to handle that, if the Assistant AD needs to handle that then why have her as an AD? let the Assistant become the AD. So she would be AD for SOME sports and not others? Then I support the College, why do we need you?

Special Security for FB games? Does Oxy have it's own Secret service? They didn't know her background and sent her (with many other people by the way) into a potentially hostile environment without his presence...Again, will you do your job or not AD?

Seems she lays the blame directly on the FB program...

She can still work there.  Not just as AD.
What is her physical disability?

Those of us on social media are making her life unbearable.  Snowflake. :'(

Having friends that have coached in the athletic department at Oxy, if they decide to fight this and go guns blazing, she is in trouble.  Created a very hostile work environment and treated her "friends" on campus and her own gestapo.  They didn't coach football, but they always felt she had a personal vendetta against football.  She hated that they received so much support from the alumni groups.

You are exactly right on every single point you made.  The coaching turnover was extremely high on her watch.  The president should have blocked the Widolff termination, but didn't.  This just allowed the cancer to grow

Interesting concept introduced in this article:  "...Widolff was involved in an NCAA recruiting violation which subsequently resulted in the football program being placed on probation for two years, according to the NCAA public infractions report. Veitch, the board of trustees and Hoffman made a joint decision to terminate Widolff's contract, as any further violation of NCAA rules could have resulted in Occidental losing its ability to play any NCAA sport, according to the lawsuit."

Maybe I read the NCAA report wrong, but I understood the Football email foul-up was characterized as a minor infraction, worthy of the self-imposed punishment meted out by Oxy to Widolff.  It was the multiples serious issues with the Volleyball program that were an endangerment to the Oxy Athletics program.
