Teams hate having to travel to the IE.

I'd wager that SCIAC teams hate having to travel to MN/WI in November/December more than MN/WI teams would hate to travel to California.  For what it's worth, it's 65 and sunny in central MN right now, but they're predicting highs in the 30s and snow for the weekend.  :'(

A second SCIAC team will be happy to travel anywhere. :P

A second SCIAC team would almost certainly travel about 30 miles to play the other SCIAC team in Round 1.

With traffic it's probably more like 2 hours. But you're not wrong.

OldDog,

"We are changing our state Flag to a Blue tarp as a tribute to our robust homeless population."

Just noticed your byline: Love it!   Oregon will be doing the same.    YIKES!

GT

Our state likes to pretend we are pro environment and make sure not one ounce of silts makes it to the ocean so businesses spend thousands, but have no problem with 60,000 addicts in LA County alone allowing their excrement to foul  the storm drain system/ocean. Zero protest over that one but if a drum of oil leaks its a felony and HazMat is called in with the business getting a huge bill.

olddog, we may be opponents when our teams compete, but I REALLY like your thinking.    I thought I was the last conservative on the left coast.

GT

I am really not that conservative, I think socially liberal and fiscally conservative. These dumb axx think they are making progress, highest local taxes, nearly highest cost of living, high homeless per capa by a 2X maybe more, worse traffic, worse airports, crime is getting worse, crappy education scores, tire infrastructure, upper middle class white flight ...and they are the super majority. I hope gas goes to six buck so I don't have to be in traffic. What happens when tech leaves, who can they rob?

In CA, the average freeway speed in rush hour now is 28 mph...good thing is the 60,000 homeless in LA County don't have a commute.

Yes, Oregon is not much better.    The politicians find many ways to spend money on their pet projects; yet do not take care of basic government functions.    Our homeless in Portland is now in the 10,000+ range.     What an eyesore, not to mention unhealthy to everyone around them.

Case in point:

1985 Division III playoffs

First Round, Nov. 23
Final Score: Oxy 28 St. Johns 10
Location: Los Angeles, California
Weather: 63 deg., sunny, no wind

Second Round, Nov. 30
Final Score: Central 71, Oxy 0
Location: Pella, Iowa
Weather: 15 deg., overcast, snow and ice, 10 mph wind

I was there. My toes and fingers have almost thawed out.

Big Week for the SCIAC, all very close games that could easily go either way

Warning Snowflakes, for mild entertainment purposes only, some may say none. If you have a man bun I suggest stop here.

Oxy/Whittier, I predict Pen is mightier than a Flag destroyer...Poets moved the ball on CU and are improved...glad to see both programs moving forward a bit
LV/PP, Higher ACT test scores prevail ...I like how PP game plans, not sure about the new coordinators at LV, talent seems to have dropped at LV
CMS/CLU, this time the Regals prevail over Athenas....I am a coach Mac fan...they are just so up and down...Worried about CLU linemen
UR/CU...I have to go with the Losers. It should be close. Can CU run on UR...How will CU contain our QB,....It will come down to turnovers and mental errors. UR had a lot to clean up and went backwards last week. UR has not played well at CU lately...maybe like Linfield this might change. Going to be fun.

Beware, Whittier. Oxy is on a roll. After falling behind 41-0 to CLU in the 3rd quarter, Oxy dominated the rest of the way and outscored the Kingsmen 21-14.

So Oxy's ones are better than CLU's  2s and 3s...progress

Anyone know if the fires in CA are going to force any cancellations or games to move?

CLU has posted game on.

No reason others don't play but Oxy is involved so you never know.

Thanks for the info.  Great to see Oxy back on a positive track.  Amazing what one very mediocre AD can do to a program, had they watched her basketball program, they would have known.

It is sad, Oxy was really tough for a while...sad, some very proud players from the past there. Again fish stinks from top...who is surprised.

So, um, I just noticed this in the Pre-Championship Manual:

QuoteTeams from the same conference may not play each other in the first-round of competition.

It appears that the all-SCIAC round one matchup is no longer an option.
