As I am one of those guys who is in the medical field, don't even get me started on the universal health care discussion/debate. Besides, I don't want to get Pat mad at me so that is another reason why I will refrain from any further comment on your recent thread here. ;)

Hi Doc

I tried to tell him a few posts back. It has to mean more coming from you.

It looks like in CA, State workers are back to their old game plan of doing as little as possible, excuses blah blah. How the UC and CSU decided this early to cancel all classes amazes me versus doing planning for both, but that is a little extra work they did not sign up for, soon high schools will follow over the next month.

This means the Big West will most likely go the route of the CCAA and will Cal, SDSU, and UCLA...follow. The southern schools are planning for football. The NCAA will need to pull the trigger on what is going to happen by July 15.

In general I think sports in CA (youth, adult, HS, and College)  are doomed until a vaccine, Expect huge cuts in sporting programs, recruiting will be a mess, and huge tax increases.

On a side bar read up about Taiwan or Sweden...they did not ruin their lives but stayed safe. Kids went to school after a couple weeks....

Please don't confuse what I'm about to say as a defense of college administrators or that their decision was right. But, as I understand timing and logistics behind preparing for an academic year, I can start to understand why on-campus vs. virtual learning decisions have to be made in these next 3-4 weeks. Schools are purchasing their food for cafeterias in large contracts right now, they are signing maintenance and housekeeping contracts with outside companies, they are allotting dorm rooms to students based on requests, and off-campus students desiring to live near campus are signing leases.

The Joel Klatt's and Clay Travis's of the world might believe that all of that can get done on or around mid-July, but that isn't reality. The Cal State system may have made the wrong decision, but they are definitely hitting the window of time where they have to make a decision.

Not cancelled if they keep proper distancing.

Hearing a lot of noise about SCIAC only playing a conference schedule.  Some schools may start in August and get out before Thanksgiving.  Students that want to continue with online learning will be able to.  A schedule like that would for the NWC to move to conference only as well since so many teams play each other in the conferences.

I stand with Maynard, he apologized.

Thank you. The Redlands football community is closing ranks and rallying to support him.

Please sign the petition to support Coach Mike Maynard. Read the testimonials if you would like to hear first hand what impact he has had on thousands of players who have come through the Redlands football program over the last 32 years.

I have thought it was best to remain silent and not let the stupidity of this issue damage Coach Maynard reputation. So I most likely wont post again on this topic.

The University of Redlands has gone about this issue the wrong way with little regards to a man's record, reputation and damage to the school's supporters. I wont even list all his has done for the school because the school knows, his contribution to the school is second to none. I am not going to go into how many players and students I have helped steer to the Redlands along with financial support because it is not relevant to UR's Leadership behavior. This sediment runs deep into the hundreds and maybe thousands of ex players and supporters. I am not even going to mention what the schools leaders are about to go through. They have no clue how strong the group is behind Maynard. They have no clue how much they have impacted the school. I know I am adjusting my will at death, they did not know about that one.

How does an accidental tweet, when a friend text him to stay safe and he jokes where can I get one be interpreted as racial is beyond me. How do you let people comment on his intent that don't even know him?  Those that are nailing him the stake (UR admin) know him personally.  I always believe a fish stinks from the top and President Kuncl this is on you and you have not heard the end of this despite the outcome...Many are coming for you and wont support you anymore, I know I wont and its in the thousands. I wont even let you in on what going on behind the scenes and being done.

I am so pissed, our world needs more assets like Maynard.

1500 plus signatures in less than 5 days in support of Coach Mike Maynard. Countless heartfelt messages as to what Mike Maynard has meant to their lives, including many from men of color. I'm not confident this is going to matter in the end though, as it seems the University is going to do anything to placate the mob that is coming after them right now.

That is the world we live in these days.  Doesn't matter if it was an accident or unintentional, people will have their feelings hurt and it is immediate action required or all hell will break loose.  I am honestly a little confused as I really don't see the tweet being anything to get panties in a twist over...but I also understand we live in a very sensitive world right now and even the slightest hiccup could ruin a persons career and reputation.

I missed any announcement here about Coach Maynard.  I checked out D3 front page as well. From olddog and RFB responses I shall surmise it's been snowing in Redlands.

This is very minor stuff compared to current real world events.

So NCAA announced D3 football can begin fall camps as early as August 10. SCIAC is meeting next week to determine any conference guidelines and make a final determination on non-conference games.

My guess is they cancel all non-conference games and allow camps to start August 17.

Looks like most if not all of the 5Cs will start school a week before normal and try to finish the semester at Thanksgiving.  Any word on what the other schools are doing?
