Redlands is starting late August and will finish before Thanksgiving. Heard UR will not be traveling out of state. Only conference games.

I see Cal Lu only has 8 games on their schedule.  Not sure who it was, but someone was supposed to travel but has backed out.

Will the conference champ be claiming their Pool A bid and participating in the playoffs?

Pat Coleman

There are two parts there -- one, the conference is empowered to choose its AQ in whatever way they wish. Two, obviously, the winner may have its own college-/university-imposed restrictions as to whether it can travel out of state for a game.

I'm surprised that the NCAA is holding D3 championships this year.  I'm thrilled that they are but I was sure they wouldn't have the cash.  Speaking of cash, we thought the travel based scheduling for the first couple rounds was bad previously.  Wait until we see what happens this year.  I reckon some players may need to take pedal bikes as I still expect the NCAA to be extremely short of cash and gas money can be pretty expensive in those big busses.

Pat Coleman

I am not sure we can state unequivocally yet that there will be championships this year. But if there are, they will almost certainly be for all divisions and not just for one or two of the three.

But at least if there are no championships it won't be on account of lack of money in the budget, which I think some expected

Pat Coleman

Right -- Dave McHugh has said that D-III took all of the budget hit in 2019-20 and that the budget surplus D-III stashed away did its job. I agree that it did do that, but I expect some additional fiscal limits in 2020-21 with respect to championships, and that we should expect the fall to be a little tighter than usual.

D-III will want to build that budget surplus back up, and we need to be prepared for who knows what in March of 2021. If the Big Dance goes down again, we are all in big trouble.

Please sign the petition to support Coach Mike Maynard.

Sorry to hear about what happened to Mike Maynard. The merciless Twitter mob will crush and destroy him. The Twitter mob is not about conversation or understanding or "coming together." They are about crushing all dissent and making you bow down on their altar. If Maynard is lucky he will only be schooled and re-educated Mao-style. More likely he will be destroyed. Thanks to the cesspools Twitter and Instagram, every moron on Earth has an opinion, and if you don't agree with them you will be mercilessly crushed. I hope he survives.

All, thanks for the support in Maynard. Your responses are refreshing and remind me all humans are not self serving. Myself and my few friends all agree we are so glad we are in the sunset of our life.
In an ERA of single parenting is the norm, the world needs more Maynards. I can't wait for the first game back for Coach.

2000+ signatures in support for Coach Maynard. According to an update on the petition, Coach Maynard has retained legal counsel, and his case will be decided upon by a 3 person panel at the University.

RFB, D.O.C., olddog and OxyBob:

We all have to deal with fools and idiots everywhere, however, I'm sorry you have to deal with them more in your state, which, iunfortunately, has been the norm for decades. I hope the situation works out fine for Coach Maynard. However, if he is retained, do any of you believe the atmosphere will still be delicate (to put it nicely) since I'm sure there will still be those who are vindictive and not accept a verdict of retaining him as coach? As you allude to,, this current age of anarchy, hypocrisy and intolerance for even discussions of divergent opinions and philosophy is a sorry state, but, again, just what we all have to deal with. I'd love to see the social medial forms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook-I am on none of them) go defunct, too, however, we all know that is not going to happen. But, the again, I'm just old school.🙂

DB,

Thanks for the support. The internal attack(folks at the school that know him) is not there from what I heard. This is all about did his comment have negative racial intent. The folks that put him on leave know him and know it was not, the school chose to make this public instead of private in order to look PC or something. Proving intent again is very hard to start with and then making it public to destroy what he has built. They have gained nothing...Net Financial loss, you have major volunteers and donors red hot.

When I see the President at the next game, I will let him know that was BS to his face like a man and not Tweet and tell him I changed my Trust, ... before he leaves at halftime.

I have heard the Maynard's are overwhelmed by the support from current and past players....

Dr. James Appleton was the model President. Big supporter of athletics, and a regular on the sidelines at our Tuesday night practices when we went to war with each other. His big shoes still have not been filled yet. It was a sad day when he retired.
