Oxy...nice come back ...but my point was that Redlands COULD have won the game and based upon that, the teams appear to be fairly closely matched.  Oxy has a national ranking...Can Redlands be that far off?  With a good qb, I think they can become a very strong team.

Dawgs

We only beat Whittier by 8, and Redlands only beat them by 6 in OT,  Whittier COULD HAVE won both of those games.......... maybe they deserve a national ranking? ;) Enough with the WHAT IF'S or COULD HAVES, the 2006 season is almost here, if Redlands or anyone else for that matter wants a national ranking, then they will have to earn it on the field, and turn those ALMOSTS and SHOULD HAVES into wins!!!
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

In 2003, Oxy was two plays (one against Pomona and one against Redlands) away from going undefeated, 9-0 rather than 7-2, and we SHOULD HAVE won the SCIAC that year.  Rather than saying WHAT IF, we worked hard and turned those close games into wins and took the championship the next two years, and are going for the 3-peat in '06!!!

Oh all seeing eye..........I only brought up the hypothetical to support my position that the gap, if one exists between Oxy and Redlands is ....miniscual.   And arent you the one that said, this years rankings are based upon last years performance? Of course they are...I was trying to point out that it doesnt appear that the two teams are that far apart.
Other than the let down against CLU,  I think that last years teams very very close, and that it will be the same agian this year and the winner of the Redlands - Oxy game will either climb in the polls or DROP in the polls.  Certainly even you would agree that other than a playoff game, Redlands is probably Oxy's biggest challenge.  Oxy's preseason schedule is a walk in the park.

eye, you are a rah rah guy...I like that, and you are right, hard work overcame those two plays.  I wasnt what iffing the situation, just trying to point out that the teams are very close and whether you want to believe it or not .......this years game SHOULD  be as close or closer than last, no matter who wins.

Thank you.  Speaking of Karma, all you Oxy and Linfield guys should be aware that dawgs (as I post this) is only ten posts away from being "karmalized".  I hope he doesn't try for paybacks. :'(

Wow ... go away from the board for a couple days and things really get interesting.  First I want to talk about a couple of oxy recruits that are coming in:

1st: Dorian Vaughn of Spokane, Wash., was the subject of a newspaper profile as one of the winners of Gates Millennium Scholarships, awarded annually to academically talented, low-income students of color.  "I still can't believe it," Vaughn told the Spokane Spokesman Review. Student body president at Rogers High School, captain of the football and track teams, and community volunteer, Vaughn was recruited by a number of Ivy League schools but chose to come to Occidental.

2nd: Jason Lehman of Napa, Calif., a two-sport athlete honored as a scholar-athlete by the Northern California chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. "I've always tried to put academics first," Lehman, a first team all-league utility player at Justin-Siena High School, told the Napa Valley Register. "I love playing football and I love playing baseball. I'm just glad and I'm blessed that I can still play in college ... The education there [at Occidental] is great and I know I'll have a lot of fun playing football there."

3rd: Joining Lehman will be Scott Saunders of Palm Springs, a three-year starting quarterback at Palm Springs High School who helped lead his team to back-to-back California Interscholastic Federation finals. "Occidental in a great college academically, and they're competitive in football, too," he told the Desert Sun.

I will try to get some more information about these players in a bit, but just saw these little things about the players and thought I would share it with the rest on you all.
O.C. RAH!

Saunders is a pretty good qb, Im not aware of him being recruited by any big name schools,  he might have been.  A good pick up for Oxy.
