second to worse game 'LF being worse.

Fox, Pacific, Whitworth all played their worst game against Linfield too...  ;)

Funny, CLU had their worse two games against Chapman and CMS.  If only they played better.   :P

Amnesia ....Check...

Yes CMS and UR game would be close...for sure...no doubt ....but the facts were ...in the close game..

CMS started their back up, but a very capable back up (herald out of La Habra, possible 1AA kid in HS, went to CMS for academics) ....and they are a run first and pass second team, dont throw too many deep passes ever.

UR might have played their second to worse game 'LF being worse. 9 penalties...I recall three drive killer or extended CMS ...9 penalties is half a season for UR.

UR has always been a very capable run stopper, Edward was 24 carries for 84 yards...The QB ran for 82...UR held CMS under 200 yard on the day ...

Being a very capable backup still doesn't make up for lack of playing time/experience, even though he has started... two years ago. Missed most of camp in isolation. Has a MUCH better command of the offense and flow of the game then he did in his first start... in over two years. Much stronger focus on run blocking with the O-line now than at the time of the first meeting. Amnesia, maybe.

Funny how it always seems to be Redlands didn't perform and there is never credit given to the opposing team (CMS or anyone else). Blinders, probably.

Terry,

When another team does a good job I am one of the few that say they kicked out butt, sorry CMS did some good things but UR almost lost the game between the ears that day. I gave LF huge props. CMS props for their size and national base. CMS issue is team speed. If it was an even bet, I doubt the money would flow more to CMS. I am far from saying UR is much better.

I don't think Redlands would win a rematch with CMS

Special guest post from RFB:

QuoteSince 1990, CMS is  4-27 against Redlands, including a loss at home this season.

I wholeheartedly agree on team speed. The difference was evident in the Chapman game last week. No question Redlands is overall a faster team. I would also agree on the money flow, unfortunately I have never found the D3 window in Vegas.

D3 football predicting Redlands visits Linfield for first round of playoffs.  If Redlands played their worse game earlier this year versus the team from Oregon, they will have a chance a redemption.  Vegas odds favor Linfield, but anything can happen.

This LF team is very special (I would not be surprised to see them in the Championship Game) and poses huge match ups for UR. Their D line team speed is crushing. UR defense is notch below the past teams, but improving every week.
If they beat us by 40 last time, I would have to put us at 28 point dog. In some ways we match up better against MHB schemes, stop RPO against MHB and you have a better chance.

I have watched NCC, Wheaton, MU, etc....LF is right there, I like LF D line over NCC or Wheaton. If LF O line is healthy they are equally tough, being so balanced with the running game and passing game. LF is a better team,  than the past couple seasons. When UR beat them pretty well a couple years ago, up front was a push, and our skills matched their speed. I did not like LF linebacker play or SS in 2019...we found them. They have fixed the issue along with the O line and D line,  being so much better.

Fair assessment of the game olddog.  i hope Sat. game is clean and close, but I am not expecting anything from CLU.  They are ready for the season to be over, from what I hear.  Huge coaching search has numerous candidates for the Head coaching job.  The word around the locker room is Lugo is a players coach/liked by the players, but not a good play caller/head coach.  we will see if they who they hire?

Interesting....it all comes down to how committed the School/President are to football. Given the tide that everything should be free in the state, I would think SCIAC would want to promote football to keep enrollment numbers up, but I see mindsets I never dream could happen today. A few years from now I want to see if they have any big donors. The trend is a decline, see Whittier for example ...I guess what I am saying social workers don't fund endowments too well.

I hope CLU finds its footing, but something is up there and why MAC left (maybe admin or personal that he does not want to share). He always gave me the impression he was a lifer...Despite my kids not going to CLU always very nice to me when we talked.

The fifth quarter booster club at CLU is very active.  I think they are trying to rebuild something.  The school just added a new major, Entrepreneurship. Maybe they can graduate some millionaire entrepreneurs who will give back?   :-\  My son says they have several older D1 coaches applying to the job.  The facilities are great, but administration, no so much.  Mac left because he was sick of CA and its politics.  He is originally from Texas, and he wanted to be able to see his son play HS football.  That is why he took the Grace Community school job, but family illness made him rescind his offer and stay in CA.  He was the reason my son chose CLU, so I agree that he is a good man.  I understand that the booster club was looking for change, so it was eventually going to happen.  he is coaching his son's team, Sierra Canyon O-Line currently.  We will see what happens.  My boy will play hard for whomever the coach is, but not sure about others.  Saturday will be his toughest game to date, and I pray that he/his team perform and stays healthy!

I'm not so sure that I wasn't a bit premature is forming such an opinion.

MonroviaCat

was a very SCIACy finish to the season.  LaVerne nearly upset Chapman, Pomona beat Claremont, CLU comes out fast but fades even faster against Redlands.
Go Cats!
