It's concerning.  I only have one kid (12).  She works hard at school and wants to go to college.  We're doing what we can to prepare now to give her the opportunity, if she wants, so she won't be drowning in student debt but I don't think we could pull it off if we had 2, 3, 4 kids.....it's just too much.

Right there with you. One kid (15) who has done everything right (Straight A student, athlete, choir) and is very driven. All in cost for a California State University school is around $30,000 per year. I have the money saved for her, but that cost for the return on investment is just out of whack. And she is aiming higher than a Cal State school, so the cost will be higher.

Good on her.  I'd push her to head to Cal Lu.   ;D

CLU has been good for my son/student athlete.  He played 4 years of football and will be graduating with honors in his major,  Since Cal Lu has many connections with professional sports teams like the LA Rams and the Angels City FC, many student athletes end up with internships, or jobs with these professional teams.  Wildcat better check himself because Linfield is not exactly the most academic institution and does not have the network that Cal Lu has!!  :}  They offer good scholarships to help us parents with tuition.

I didn't know my flip comment demanded the used car sales job on the merits of CLU.

Maybe Cal Lu should used that vast network to find someone that can coach some defense?

Ultimately, the D3 athlete plays for the love of the game, but need a job after college!  No reply about the lack of academic prowess that Linfield has!!  Oh, and your cats got their asses handed to them by an ok Bethel team.  Lighten up, exactly what I was thinking!

Whenever someone tries to play the "academic prowess" card on a football posting board they're just saying we really suck at football. Funny to see Cal Lu is now at that place.

Uh . . . he's a Redlands guy.

Well, he's a Chapman alumnus, and his son Cal Who. Both are junior colleges, so reading comprehension is not a big requirement for admission.

I kid Dr. D (Kind of).

Lol. He's just upset his son went 0-4 against Redlands. He's lashing out, and knows Cal Who would never scheduled Linfield willingly again.

Dr. Doolittle

You are correct about the coaching.  Since coach Mac left, the coaching has been terrible on ball three sides of the field.  Player talent level of starters has been good, but depth has lacked all four years my son played.  However, there were quite a few comments prior regarding academics, and cost of college education and that was why I chimed in after your Cal Lu comment, so whatever.  My boy is done, and I am an old Chapman College D2 scholarship athlete, so I really don't have much of an allegiance with CLU.  Just saying it was a good fit for my son and he already has jobs lined up.

I will say that Redlands is a much better coached team than CLU.  In fact, CLU was out coached every game they lost and could have easily been 7-3 this season.  Not lashing out though, just pointing out the facts.  Linfield is a solid D3 football program--they recruited my son, as did several top D3 programs like Wheaton, Bethel and St. John's.  He chose CLU because of coach Mac!  He and many players were devastated when he left.
