With Whittier's former president departing and a new one recently being installed in her place, it looks like some alums have gotten the green light to fund raise to try to bring football back

QuoteNow under new leadership, with new faces on the board as as the school's president, they're exploring the possibility of bringing football back, according to law firm / sports agency Younger & Associates.

There's a catch though. There always is.

The school needs to raise about $250k in order to bring football back to campus.

QuoteWhittier College, in 2022, after 115 seasons, terminated its football program. Now, with a new president/board, the College is considering its restoration if certain financial commitments are met for sustainability. Approximately $250,000 remains to be raised. Both George Allen and Don Coryell served  as head coaches for the Poets. D3 football is worth saving, teaching teamwork/sacrifice/time management. Anyone wishing to make a pledge in honor of either of these HOF coaches, please DM me for info.

I wish the Whittier folks best of luck, if it gets so Mo, I may hit the Venmo tab to help out.

Can Cat or some other purple and red fan tell me did UR schedule LF or is this part of the scheduling agreement?

Thanks

The Third Division

Is it already safe to assume Chapman will win the SCIAC this year?

Dr. Doolittle

The SCIAC is typically competitive, but Chapman has the edge over Redlands.  However, both PP and CMS have been up recently.  CLU and La Verne will be the bottom dwellers.  Just my opinion..

MonroviaCat

I think it's pretty safe to say that whatever we think will happen in the SCIAC probably won't happen.  Every year, some unexpected team throws their hat in the ring and make the SCIAC interesting and fun to follow.  Based on Dr. Doolittle's last post, it sounds like this year LaVerne or CLU will be the surprise team!   ;D
Go Cats!

Dr. Doolittle

The SCIAC football is unpredictable.  I agree.

SoCalLance

The SCIAC should be interesting this year. As stated, always unpredictable...

5 of 6 teams have starting QB's coming back.

I see former CLU HC "Coach Mac" is the head coach at Thousand Oaks High, his son plays for him and will be a senior 6'2" 220#, 3 star linebacker prospect, rumor is headed to U of R....I wish. Last season at TO High, he went 9-4, lost in the third round of the playoffs. QB back this year, should play at D3 or D4 in the playoffs this year...pretty high level for a public.

Coach mac is quality, at any level.  He is why my son chose CLU.  While he did leave the program, he talked to each player individually regarding his decision to leave.  He ultimately had to reject his new out-of-state coaching job because of his mother in-law's health declining.  He had to scramble for local work, and helped coach Sierra Canyon O-line before going to Thousand Oaks HS.  His son is a beast for his age and is a great kid.  I wish coach Mac only the best.
