RBF,

No one has turned down anything, the Finalist round was supposed to be concluded last week. My guess w/o talking to anyone is in the next couple weeks.

Eric Acciani is the hire as recently announced on socials.

White smoke at Redlands! Sounds like Acciani has some socal HS ties. Also, if my math is correct, sounds like Redlands is his 5th different job since 2020.

Hopefully he's a creative coordinator and works with what he has already instead of trying to fit a system. If they try to roll out a spread system again, same results will apply.

Watch a few highlights when Acciani when he was the OC at Mercyhurst, pretty basic stuff, spread, 11, and his power game was using a tight end and with another TE as a Y kicking out or lead blocking.

He scored a lot of points given they were not very good, our Tackles have to be good in the system above. So I hope RBF is correct and he adjust, we have maybe one tackle that could hold up, need to find another.

I am not concerned about his job progression (kept improving), looks like this move is a move to comeback to So Cal.

I have a buddy who knows Acciani from college. Says he's a super bright dude. I don't think Redlands has had a very good plan offensively for the last few years so it is definitely an area where they can improve. Hopefully he has autonomy over the offense and it isn't some kind of blend or coordinator in name only situation.

Just calling different plays can help but it is only one part of the equation. They need to recruit better players and do a better job of developing them when they have them. We know it is possible still at U of R because they are doing it on defense

You are right but at the end of the Jimmy and Joes get you the wins, and given the direction the school gone makes it harder to recruit. The schools wants to be more of commuter school than the past, see their pricing to steer kids (a lot of financial programs built around this goal).
Getting the upper middle class kid is a lot tougher due to cost and aid, this eliminates kids in the past that have really helped the program, most of their very best players fall into this category. Easy examples OC, SD, and Ventura County kids ...it made sense, far enough from home, good school, great program and reputation, and parents could see them play. When I look at the roster I see a different group of kids, and are the lack of wins coaching or talent. Chapman is still getting these kids, their skill players have been better and O line. These kids have been exposed to training since they were young. What amazes me is how small Chapman defense has been the last few years.

Redlands has always been expensive, so don't buy it. It's all about financial aid and bringing the cost down as always. Other schools with successful programs are expensive too and are finding ways to get kids to their programs.

UR is 81k all in to live on campus.  RFB it used to be a great investment, now it's very lacking as the current and past administrations have made feelings of the students/employees more important than actual education.  Chapman has surpassed UR in every aspect.  The city of Redlands has changed for the worst over the past 30 years while the city of Orange is a great place to go to college.

Top D3 schools total cost:
North Central- 59k
MT Union- 49k
Mary Hardin Baylor- 48K
Linfield- 66K

Roughly a third of UR budget is for aid, UR has many programs (commuter)  to drive the cost down closer and sometime less than what a kid would pay for UCR, driving a focus towards high achieving local kids.
If a kid is middle class and high achieving in school, he can get his education under 15k easily each year at UR.

Whittier is getting serious with their Head Coach hire.  Cory White from the FBS ranks.  He coached and graduated from Whittier, 2004- 2007.  It will be interesting to see what his hires look like.

That's the sticker price, not what you pay after financial aid and grants. Maximum cost per year would need to be roughly 15,000-30,000 or less to compete and get good to great athletes in the door, and that's for all programs at Redlands.

Agree. Good hire and glad to see Whittier will be back playing ball. Would like to see rational minds back at Oxy too.

He looks like a good hire.  Glad WC is back.

Coach White is a great hire for Whittier and a good guy. One he knows what he is getting into, he has recruited So Cal most of his life and he wont have to endure kids with poor attitudes or habits. Its all new.

Sure beats hiring a guy from out of town.
