I would state that the OC is only as good as the players that were brought in...the talent just is not too deep at Redlands right now.

CRZK

At the half:

Oxy 28  CC 13!!

Two picks by Collins and a fumble.  Not good.  The CC offense has had some success thru the air.  When not having a turnover the Oxy offense has moved very well.

Maybe the guys came out overlooking CC.  Can only assume that will be addressed in the locker room!

As long as they win. That is all that matters. Oxy will regroup and score two to three more touchdowns.

I'm out. Time to get it together Dawgs. Use the bye week to fix the problems and hit Chapman hard.

Well, let's hope there is talent that just needs to gel. In any event, I enjoyed chatting with all of you tonight, even though it was very frustrating. Have a good evening.

D O.C.

Come on! Isn't it obvious? You all have been dancing around it for a week now.
Move Selway out as another target for Saras and put Wabby in at fullback.
Simple.
How's that for OC?

:) ;) :-* :) ;) :-* :) ;) :-*

CRZK

Well-early in 4th qtr,  Oxy 48-CC 27.

Well this CC QB is for real.  CC may not be the whipping boy of the recent past.  A lot of pressure on him but he is finding his receivers.

Oxy has 515 total yds of total offense in the 1st half!  Wow.

D O.C.

48-34

Don't worry about the stats. Shore up the defense. Don't let OXYCollins get hurt trying to do it himself. Run the clock. Shake hands.

CRZK

Shore up the D is correct.

It does sound like there is good coverage by the Oxy secondary, however these CC WR's are making the catches under pressure.  Saving grace is Oxy's offense is running and passing at will.

Should be an interesting week reviewing film!!

CRZK

Double damn!!

Army loses in a sqeaker!! by only 4.  Had 4 chances inside the 5 with under 30 seconds to go.

Collins has another pass interecepted.  That is 3.

Wabby is a qb...plain and simple...he is also proved himself in adverse positions and is a proven winner....it is obvious somethng needs to be done ....what the hell can he do that is worse?????11 fricking picks in 2 games...I could do better and that isnt much of a stretch.

Give the kid a chance....groom him for the future....I dont think he even traveled..   wow... what are these guys thinking????  he plays with intensity and emotion.  Thats waht this team needs right now, not next year.

Give him a chance.

CalLuKngsmn1

Score is Cal Lu 2- NWC 0
Good to see the Kingsman come out after a gut-check and take care of business. Two NWC teams in a row take a fall and the Cal Lu D is turning it up. The offense is sputtering but they are having to replace 3/4 of their skill positions so they are probably still getting adjusted and with two weeks to get the kinks worked out and ready for conference play touchdowns should come easy.
-Redlands must be getting pretty worried about ball control and maintaining field position because if they dont get thos problems worked out we might be finding the Dogs at the back of the pack this season.
-Good win for Oxy, not that it wasnt expected. But i would be concerened that they are relying on Collins to be their form of defense this season.
-I wasnt sure who Carthage was, but the way they handled the Poets doesnt speak much for Whittier. Its looking like it is going to be another down year. They are on like their 3rd head coach in 4 years or something like that? Hopefully this one will stick around to make some changes, afterall werent the Poets a SCIAC powerhouse back in the early 90's?
-Good to see the Sagehens come away with a victory, although it was L&C a victory is a victory and is always a good way to come back from a loss the week before.
-Too bad that the Leos couldnt have a better outing against a pretty good Whitworth team. Hopefully they will get things heading in a positive direction this week. Injuries are part of the game and its the coaches job to gameplan with or without them, just hope they werent relying the legs of those two tailbacks that are hurt to get them through the year.

Quick question for those all those interested because I know I am, Do you think that Linfield will remain in the top 25 after a dismal 0-2 start?

Just back from the Oxy game.  Final score, Oxy 48 - Colorado College 34.  The Oxy Tigers dominated the first half, but had a few missteps that let CC get on the board.

Second half, Oxy flat as two day old soda, especially the d, but the o wore down as well.

A ton of flags in this game, quite a few defensive pi against Oxy . . . the players thought that a number of the calls were chickensh## and from the stands, I'd probably agree more often than not.

Have to give credit to CC.  Their QB was doing an excellent job, and some great catches by the receivers.  They did not quit at all, and I'd say that they had the momentum for most of the second half.  This kids have played together for a couple of years, I think that they are deserving of much more respect this year than in years past.  Look out SCAC.

Goeltz got in for one series,  three and a punt.  He looks ok,  but the o just does not execute as well w/o Collins who is a mad man . . . 5 tds and, if I remember right, a very high 300 something yards of passing .  . . the teams combined for over 1,000 yards in total offense.

In sum,  had expected to see Oxy dominate by a much bigger margin.  CC a much improved team.  Lot's of flags, and Oxy needs to tighten things up over the next two weeks.

Hard luck for the Dawgs . . . sorry boys, I'm thinking that Wabby deserves a look.

Also a tough loss for our friends up north at Linfield.  In answer to the quesiton posed in the preceding post,  yes, i think that Linfield will stay in the top 25 for now.  HSU was ranked ahead of the 'Cats going in .  . .  but I say that w/o looking at how the rest of the field performed.

Congratulations to Cal Lu . . .  I expect that the Kingsmen will move up and have a shot at the top 25 pretty soon, though I'm a little surprised that the win at Willamette had to be a come from behind .  . .  do I understand that right?

cheers,

DGD- Wabby is #5 right now....don't you think the other three guys should get a shot first?

I have no idea what the depth chart looks like.  The six picks (do I have that right) today along with last week's performance suggest that the current qb situation has room for improvement.  If Wabby was getting serious DI attention as has been suggested by DGD, then maybe he has the chops.   I have no idea about nos. 3 and 4 . .  .  did they get to travel?  Are you sure Wabby is still no. 5?  I just want to lend some moral support to DGD . . . who  clearly wants to see his daughter and Wabby hook up . . .  ;D

Not that I really care to see Redlands improve mind you . . .  and now that we're going to get into conference, I'm perfectly happy with lot's of picks being tossed by our Bulldog cohorts.
