To DGD: "Lets face it if the qb doesnt play to win, how can you expect the rest of the offense to do so."

I have not been trying to accuse you of being negative; that is until you posted this comment about the QB's not playing to win. Are you nuts? This is the most ridiculous
comment I have read on any forum!

Dags fan....downtowns comment was obviously made in a sarcastic tone and a veiled attempt at humor.  No one is promoting anyone, if we cant add some humor to the situation it will be that much worse.  Any reference to him is and was in jest.  I am not suggesting he is the answer, from a personal standpoint I would like to see him get a chance.  He very well might make the situation worse.  I guess we will see how the team and staff responds in 2 weeks.  Hopefully they will figure it out.

I regret ever mentioning his name, the kid will now be subject to extreme scrutiny if he does get a chance to play.

AND.......I didnt say that....and I certainly didnt meant that.....I said that I saw them not attempt to make the first down...I said that they should be questioned by the staff for it...I was speaking as if I were the coach and trying to right the ship.  They should be questioned for not knowing where the first down marker is or for not taking a hit and trying to get ther first down.

Looks like Wabby made the wrong choice.  Imagine if he actually went to Louisville!  With the Brohm injury, he'd be the starter right now!   ;)

Guys, I have never seen Wabby play. However, because a couple of you are promoting him to a sickening degree, I want to make a comment. If he is as good as the two of you say, why is he at a D3 school?

My recollection from posts back earlier in the summer is that Wabby chose to attend Redlands because he wants to play both football and baseball . . . and the D1 schools that he was talking to were not going to permit that.  There might have been something about quality of education as well . . . but if that were the case, I'm guessing he would have gone to Oxy . . .  ;D  (just kidding RFB) . . .  :D

Dawg...that's what I'm saying...I was being sarcastic.   :)

coco

DGD,

Is it possible that you are looking only at Wabby and thinking only of him, while the coach has a wider perspective of considering the whole team?
Two words:  THE STREAK

coco...did you even read my post...nowhere did I suggest he is the answer...I was trying to point out what I thught had to be done to getthe offense on track.  I said the evaluation had to be of the WR's, the OC and....the qb's.   In my defense, the chant of we wan....was just a joke arising out of the frustration of listening on the radio to 6 more int's.

PLEASE....... while I suggest change should be made, I am not suggesting who the change should involve.  So please read carefully and understand that I AM NOT  promoting anyone.  PLEASE stop interpreting everything I say as a promotion ...its not.  I was trying, just like everyone else to discuss what they thought had to be done to correct a very obvious problem.  Im done with this ****.

Nice article on the CLU win in the local paper (Ventura County Star):

CLU's offensive inefficiency, turnovers and penalties kept Willamette in it - was nice to see such a strong second half, especially by the defense.  I'm sure the bye week will help to work out the kinks.

OK kids, though I never thought such words would come out of my mouth . . . let's quit harpin' on DGD.  Especially those visitors from the NWC. DGD let's his feelings be known, that's fine,  at least he's not calling for a new coach and utterly flailing at the program like some of the so called 'Cat fans.

Linfield and Redlands share a tough opening schedule and tough results.  Both programs will bounce back, though I think that Linfield is in much better position and stronger than Redlands.

The posting of fans on these boards,  however, is another story.  The Redlands faithful remain so, while there is a vocal minority of 'Cat fans who seem a bit crazed, bitter and utterly panicked . . . (if you ask me) . . .

so may I suggest accepting DGD's enthusiasm, opinions and foibles with good humored jabs rather than scorching hooks.

panicked may be an understatement...crazed is more accurate.  :D

I am sure plenty of D1-AA schools, D2 schools, and NAIA schools who give scholarships would have let Wabby play both baseball and football.  I love D3 football, and loved playing it, but so many of the guys at this level talk about where they could have gone, who they could have played for.....he is at a D3 school...if he was a D1 prospect it would show.....if anybody has ever seen a D1 qb toss the ball around (I am assuming many have) its something special to watch....the ball comes off their hand differently....its sharp and crisp.  He is at Redlands because that is the level of his talent.....

This could be an example of how Junior College could help someone in his shoes.  Maybe if he went to juco first...in two years he would be ready for D1.

Me, testy? Nah.

Anyway, according to RFB at least, we Oxy fans can't be testy: "Thanks for pointing out Oxy's lack of b*lls."

Redlandsfan...........If you are  qb in a D1 program....in order to compete for a job...its just that...a year round job...that meansattendance at spring practiceis mandatory.........the last time I checked that is in the middle of baseball season.  I am positive of that...as to 1AA..I cant say.

I wont make any comment of where he should have or could have gone...thats already been hashed....and remember the kid hasnt siad anything....I did.

One factor in the decision process that student athelets like him face is, and  that only tooth has mentioned is ....quality of education.  I cant say why he chose Redlands....

WOW!  "Can't we all get along?" :o

I left Friday morning to go to San Antonio and just got back and finished reading all the posts since that time.  There are so many things I could say, but I will only make a few comments at this time about the QB's in the game.

The best QB on the field was #16 (but Wabby didn't  travel).

The 3rd Redlands quarterback, Beaver, played all the 4th quarter.  He made the same mistakes as the other two, but seemed to have more positve body language etc. to be able to move the team.  I think he deserves a good shot to move up.

The bye week (I see that Oxy and CLU also have byes) will help, as will another nonSCIAC game.

Trinity is a quality team.  Cannon, #16, is the second string QB.  The number one is still recovering from his concussion.  There was a big drop off to the number  three guy when he played.
