DGD, check your e-mail. I sent the CIF eligibilty rules. From what you said the kid should not have been eligible by moving from one parent to another unless legal custody changed. Even then he has to sit out a year.

You've been touting your kid under the guise of an interested bystander for a year now, with the story on this board being the "daughter" at Redlands (and of course the son who played at USC).  How do you do that?   ???  Whatever, it seems to come naturally enough.

Ok you pull a web site up off the internet, post it and say that its me...

Thats not even circumstanial evidence.  You dont think that is a stretch? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Give it a rest  and post something that has to do with football.  And ...Ive only been registered since June 2006.  Your research skills wont find you a job.

I have thought about this and have come to a decision that it isnt worth the effort to come on the board and defend myself like this.  Plus, the kid does not deserve the grief that I have inadvertantly caused him.  This has turned into a soap opera instead of a football board.

I never meant for this to happen.  Good luck to the dawgs...I hope they get it together and beat Oxy.

GO DAWGS GO DEEP.....see ya.

DGD,

You knew this was coming. Time to let it slide off your back.

Go Dawgs, Go Deep.

Is it worth going to the game and attempting to obtain a "scalped" ticket?

I say go for the thrill of sneaking into the game... high school security can't be that great.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

DGD,

Thanks for the explanation on the public/private issue. I get it now.
In Oregon we don't have that many private high schools, so everyone plays together. Hawaii, like California, has lots of private schools, and the ones on O'ahu have their own league.

A bit of advice for you: Lick your wounds for a day or two if you want, then come back on the board. You do add something to it, but don't talk about your son all the time, reciting his stats and such. And stop questioning the coaches. Just support the team.

We had a parent on our board the past few years and he was a great guy, but you never saw him say anything negative about the coaches or talk his son up. He was just a regular poster, and had a good time with it. His kid was a super player and other posters would mention that after the games sometimes, but the dad never bragged about it. You might have a better time, now that everyone knows who you are, if you did that, and didn't have to pretend anymore.

People don't dislike you. They just got tired of your constantly pushing your son.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Pat, any chance you can set up some new boards?  My suggestions:

1.  Who should be Redlands QB
2.  Thoughts on Wabby's dad
3.  Your take on whether Oxy Bob was hugged enough

A logical thought but not right.  OC's kids come from all over and few are from Westlake.
dawgs,
This must be a great conflict for you:  The OC coach, Bill Redell, is a former great QB at Oxy and was the Crespi coach during their glory years. ;D

Loved the poll!!

First if DGD is still reading this board and to expand on COCO's post.

In full disclosure I am a parent of player in the SCIAC, will not tell anyone which team but you may guess, I will also not mention his name.  Now to the best of my knowledge I have never mentioned his name nor any thoughts about his playing or not playing.  With that said I will share this.

DGD, you caused the grief for Wabby, you quoted his stats, you built him up, you fronted his cause.  You made him sound like the savior of Redlands.  He indeed may be that but let him and his coaches demonstrate that.   In retrospect you should have mentioned him once, maybe twice and then dropped the subject.  In other words kids earn their starts and snaps on the practice field,  WE have nothing to do with this.

BTW, this comes from an individual who has or had three kids play sports at the D3 and D2 level,  another kid is going next year to a very competitive NAIA school on an athletic scholarship (not football).  They make their own way on their own.  So I think I have some experience here.

I believe that we can talk about programs, we can talk about coaches and their decision-making,  heck we can even talk about players, especially upperclassmen who are hacking it or who maybe shouldn't be starting.

With that I for one would like to see DGD continue to participate, he provided some food for thought, got conversations going, and (sometimes) was entertaining.

Now,  I asked a question about Cal Lu.  Got a response about the O getting on track in the 2nd half, why for two games did it take two 1st halves to get going--high expectations leading to jitters, coaching decisions, or something else?  In the interest of SCIAC football I hope it is only opening season jitters and that it is ready to go now.  Next question, is their defense ready to take on high powered offenses and keep them in the game?  For example handling Oxy and keeping them off the scoreboard enought to keep them in the game.

For example, it seemed that Oxy did pretty good with their pass coverage but the kids from CC were talented enough to make the game close.  However their defense couldn't stop Oxy from scoring.  Hopefully when Oxy goes to the playoffs, that might be a question.  Does the same hold true for Cal Lu?

This isn't a slam against any program, just looking at it as a fan and for future prediction purposes.

Bob-
Have you had a change in your dietary or exercise patterns?  You're cracking me up lately...

CRZK-
Strictly based on historical performance and my observations from Saturday I'd say the Cal Lu D will present a stiffer test for Oxy than CC's D did...  At least 10 of Willamette's points came immediately after momentum changing miscues by the Cal Lu offense.

Just for the record: Oaks Christian is most decidedly not a Catholic school, it's more of the praise the Lord and go find me some ath-a-letes for the football team variety (officially non-denominational)

Thanks! ;D Last night I begged Pat to let me make boards with the titles in tigersports' post, but I didn't think that he liked that idea very much. This seemed like an acceptable compromise... I hope!

I don't think I've made a serious poll on d3sports.com yet. :D

This whole conversation about families is interesting. I never told people that my brother played, but someone went to the trouble of figuring it out. At that point though, it hardly mattered in my ostrization that I was a family member of a player because they were already in an uproar that a female was posting on their board. ::)

I guess the smartest thing for a family member to do is never mention the name of their loved one at all. I don't think my brother cared one bit that the guys on the board didn't believe he was starting... cause he knew he would be. But, family members should also realize that if they share inside information about their family member, it's going to be the opposite of appreciated... so why bother? The guys were all discussing who was going to be the starting DL... and I knew, for sure... but they didn't want to hear it because of who I was... was it ridiculous? Yeah. But it does sort of show that it's just better not to talk about your loved one at all, ever.

I hope Wabby has thick skin... people have been even worse to him than they were to my bro over on the  CCIW board.  :-\

CRZK,

IT SEEMS THAT THE CLU DEFENSE WAITS TO MAKE THEIR ADJUSTMENTS AT HALFTIME. BOTH GAMES HAVE BEEN NIGHT & DAY BETWEEN THE 1ST AND 2ND HALF. THE OFFENSE HAS TURNED THE BALL OVER A COUPLE OF TIMES, GIVING UP FIELD POSITION IN BOTH GAMES.

2ND HALF OF BOTH GAMES THE DEFENSE HAS COME OUT LIKE A BUNCH OF CRAZED DOGS. IT'S GREAT TO GET A 2ND HALF SHUTOUT, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO THEM DO IT FOR 4 QTRS.

THEY HAVE SOME TALENT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. THEY JUST NEED TO GET THE CHEMISTRY RIGHT AND PLAY A COMPLETE GAME. 2-0 IS A GREAT START. HOPE THEY CAN KEEP IT UP. LOOKING FORWARD CLU -OXY ON 10/28.
